Another week passed. They’d been expecting to hear about all hell breaking loose, but it actually seemed pretty quiet on the demon front. Dean and Liam spent as much quality time as they could together. They even went on another date, except this time to a gay bar. Dean was still a little uncomfortable in such a place, but it seemed like the safest place for them to be affectionate with each other. Dean taught Liam to play pool, then he won a few bucks playing other people. All in all it was a good night for them.
Sam spent the time exploring his new relationship with Natalie. It was hard to let it sink in that he had someone again. There was also that fear that something would happen to her just like it did to Jessica. Yellow Eyes was finally dead, but that didn’t mean that some other big and nasty wouldn’t come after her to get to him. He shared his fears with her one night, and she tried to quell them. She knew what he did, and she wasn’t naive about the risks. There was also the fact that he probably wasn’t going to be around much to spend time with her. That didn’t bother her much either.
Sam had ended up moving into Natalie’s bedroom, and he came down one morning with a grin on his face. “Somebody got laid,” Dean smirked as he took a sip of coffee and went back to his waffle.
“Shut up!” Sam’s grin got wider and he shook his head. “And that someone was probably you.”
“Damn straight,” Dean chuckled. “As often as he wants it. I’m not dumb enough to turn down good sex.”
“Neither am I, I guess,” Sam said as he grabbed his own plate and took two waffles off the big plate on the counter. “Where is your other half anyway?” he asked as he poured himself a cup of coffee.
“Out practicing again,” Dean answered. “He wants to keep himself sharp he says. I guess that bout with old Yellow Eyes brought back old memories and he doesn’t wanna lose them.”
“That’s dedication.”
“I know, I don’t know how I got so lucky.”
Sam sighed and shook his head. “I don’t know either, but we both got incredibly lucky. I mean, we lost Dad, and I miss him, but look at us. We both have great people in our lives. Dean, I never thought that would happen, for either of us.”
“I hear you on that,” Dean nodded as he took a big bite of waffle. “I think the universe decided to reward us for our good work finally. Some twisted son of a bitch somewhere decided to send me a man, but I won’t complain too much. It’s a good match. When he’s not being a stubborn pain in the ass he’s a very good hunter.”
Sam swallowed the bite in his mouth and nodded in agreement. “Anyway, Bobby called this morning. He found crop failure and a huge cicada swarm outside Lincoln, Nebraska. He thinks it might be an omen finally, and he’s heading there to check things out. He said he wouldn’t mind it if we joined him. I don’t know about you, but I kind of think it’s time for us to get back in the saddle.”
“Leaving me already?” Natalie appeared in the doorway dressed in her pink robe.
Sam frowned. “Natalie, I’m sorry, I… I told you the other night I still have a job to do, especially after we failed to prevent that gate being opened. I guess we’re no Liam and Jason Walker.”
She moved over to stand behind him and placed her hands on his shoulders, kissing the top of his head. “And I told you I understood all that, you silly man. My only concern is whether or not you two are ready.”
Sam reached up to put a hand on hers. “I swear I don’t deserve you.”
“No, you don’t, you deserve much better, but you’re stuck with me.” Her hands slid down so that her arms were wrapped around his neck and she kissed his cheek. “You know, Liam brought up the subject of me and you while he was recuperating. I told him I couldn’t because I was afraid of things ending badly between us and then I would lose all three of you. But then I thought I might lose you. When I saw you almost get killed, that’s when, like Dean with Liam, I said fuck it.”
“I’m glad you did,” Sam smiled and kissed her softly. “You don’t know how much I wish you could come with us, but...”
“But I’m no hunter and of much more use to you here,” she finished the sentence. “I’m well aware. I’ll miss you, but phones are a wonderful invention.”
“Saying fuck the what ifs and grabbing a little piece of happiness is a wonderful feeling, ain’t it?” Dean smiled as he got up to take his plate to the sink.
“It is,” Natalie agreed and let go of Sam to fetch her own plate. “We don’t know how much time any of us has left. We had better make the most of what we’ve got.”
“I kinda know how much time I’ve got,” Dean shrugged. “Unless something happens sooner. Anyway, I’m gonna go grab my man and tell him we’ve got work to do. Sam, finish your breakfast and start gathering everything up.”
Dean headed down to the field Liam used for combat practice and found him wailing on a couple of wooden dummies Natalie had made for him with the sword. He just stood and watched in admiration for a minute. Now that Liam was getting used to the limitations of a human body he was actually pretty good. He moved with finesse, delivering killing blow after killing blow to the dummies. It didn’t hurt that Liam was also shirtless and sweaty.
“Okay, master ninja warrior,” Dean finally interrupted him. “We gotta go. Bobby called. He thinks he might’ve found something and wants our help.”
Liam put the sword down and stood there panting. “Okay,” he nodded. “Are you ready for that?”
Dean shrugged. “Dad is gone and that’s sad. However, life isn’t gonna stop for us. It goes on, and big and nasties are out there, a lot of them now that the gate to hell was opened on our watch. What choice do we have?”
“None, I guess. Alright, just let me cleaned up a little at least.”
Dean put a hand on his shoulder. “Before you get clean again, think maybe we have time for a little roll in the grass?”
“Umm.. no,” Liam chuckled and shook his head as he started walking back to the house.
“What? You like never tell me no! That’s one of the things I love about you.” Dean said as he took after his mate.
“Well, I’m telling you now. I don’t want to right now. Shocking, I know, but it was bound to happen sometime.”
“Fine,” Dean sighed. “Okay, hurry up and clean yourself off and get dressed.”
When they got up to the house Sam was already loading their things into the car. “He turned down sex, can you believe that?” Dean sad to his brother as Liam headed inside.
“No, I really can’t,” Sam looked genuinely surprised. “You two give rabbits a run for their money.”
“You say that like it’s a bad thing,” Dean picked up a bag and loaded it into the trunk. “We’re in a committed and loving relationship.
“Dean, remember when I once compared you to one of those lab rats that starves to death because it keeps pushing the pleasure button rather than the food button? You’ve found your match.”
“We eat. Liam’s appetite actually came back and I don’t have to sit him down and force him anymore. That’s freaking awesome.”
Sam shrugged. “The analogy still fits.”
Liam came out with his bag and loaded it in the back of the car. Natalie stood out by the door on the porch, her arms crossed. Sam went up to hug her tight and give her one last kiss. “Be careful, you,” she gave him a little smile. “That goes for all three of you,” she looked at Dean and Liam. “I mean it, I love you all, and I want you all to come back and visit in one piece. I don’t care if you’re a little scuffed up and need tending to, but I want you guys alive.”
“We’ll do our best as always,” Sam smiled. “Goodbye for now. I’ll call you later.”
She waved goodbye as they got into the car and headed out on the road. A little over ten hours later they were pulling into a farm house. Bobby was already there waiting for them. They got out, the sound of cicadas buzzing in their ears. “You hear that?” Dean asked.
“Yeah,” Sam nodded. “It can’t be good. Hey, Bobby, what do you think? We got a biblical plague here or what?”
“I don’t know,” Bobby shook his head. “But this seems like ground zero. Let’s check it out.”
They all four headed up to the door and Dean knocked. “Candygram!”
They waited several minutes and there was no answer so Dean picked the lock. As soon as the door opened a foul stench hit them. “That really can’t be a good sign.” Dean said as he entered the house with his gun drawn.
The other three followed and they searched the house for any signs of life or strange activity. “In here!” Liam called out from one of the rooms.
The others came in, and all recoiled a little at the sight. In front of a still turned on television was a family of three that looked to have been dead for several days. “Bobby, what the hell happened here?” Sam asked.
“I don’t know,” Bobby sighed, shaking his head.
“Check for sulfur,” Dean suggested.
Liam turned around and examined the windows. “I don’t see any over here.”
A noise came from outside and Dean whistled softly to get everyone’s attention. He motioned that he was going to go check it out. Liam followed, and Sam and Bobby went around the other side. Dean and Liam made their way out onto the porch quietly, looking around. A black man sneaked up behind them and smacked Liam in the back of the head with the butt of his shot gun, sending the blond to the ground. Dean whirled around and aimed his gun at the man. “Who the hell are you?” he demanded. A black woman soon joined them.
Bobby came around from the other side and dropped his gun. “Isaac, Tamra?”
“Bobby? What are you doing here?” the woman asked in a British accent.
“I could ask you two the same.”
“Heya, Bobby,” Isaac gave him a little smile.
Dean helped Liam up. “You okay, Babe?”
Liam nodded. “My head hurts now, but I’ll live.”
Dean stroked his hair. “We’ll get you some ibuprofen to help with that.”
Bobby made introductions. It turned out the newcomers were a husband and wife hunting team that Bobby knew. They called in the dead bodies and decided to follow the couple back to their place. After a few hours Dean called the coroner to get information, flirting with the tech who picked up shamelessly.
“So, Tamara, how long you guys been married?” Sam asked curiously.
“Eight years this past June,” she answered.
“A family that slays together,” Isaac gave a little grin.
“I hear you,” Sam nodded and smiled. “Dean and Liam have been together, what, two months now? My girlfriend, she’s not a hunter, but we’ve only been officially together for a week. I really hope we’re all still together in eight years.”
Dean came back in the room. “Well, Jenny, if you look as pretty as you sound, I’d love to have an… appletini… Yeah, call you.”
Liam crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow at him, giving him a look. “Babe, you know I only have eyes for you,” Dean gave him a kiss on the cheek. “Flirting is just the best way I know to get information out of women. But anyway, get this, the whole family, cause of death was dehydration and starvation. There’s no signs of restraint, no violence, no struggle. They just sat down and never got up.”
“But there was a fully stocked kitchen just yards away,” Bobby said, looking confused.
“Right,” Sam nodded. “Was this a demon attack?”
“If it is, it’s not like anything I ever saw, and I’ve seen plenty,” Bobby answered.
“This sounds like a severe case of sloth,” Liam said. “As a preacher’s kid I’m very familiar with the seven deadly sins, but you don’t think…?”
“That they’re actual demons that got loose?” Bobby said. “It wouldn’t shock me at this point.”
“Well, now what?” Dean asked. “What should we do?”
“Uh, we’re not doing anything,” Isaac chimed in.
“What do you mean?” Sam asked.
“You guys seem nice enough, but, this ain't ‘Scooby-Doo’, and we don't play well with others.”
“Well, I think we'd cover a lot more ground if we all worked together,” Sam insisted.
“No offense, but we're not teaming with the damn fools who let the Devil's Gate get opened in the first place.”
Liam shrugged. “Everybody has a bad day once in a while. Like you’re perfect?”
“Oh yeah, yeah, I’ve locked my keys in the car and turned my laundry pink. Never brought on the end of the world though.”
“Bite me!” Liam spat. “We were the ones who figured out something was going down and we tried to stop it. We didn’t manage to this time. Where were you, sitting around with your thumbs up your asses?”
“Look, there are couple hundred more demons out there now. We don't know where they are or when they'll strike. There ain't enough hunters in the world to handle something like this. You brought war down on us.”
Tamara grabbed her husband’s arm and started pulling him out of the room. “Okay, that’s enough testosterone for now.”
Liam huffed when they were gone. “The nerve of him, blaming us for the whole thing.”
“Calm down, Babe,” Dean pulled him close. “I know it’s annoying, but there’s not much we can do. The task at hand is the important thing.”
The next day there was a very strange murder in town. A woman smashed another woman’s head into the windshield of her car over a pair of shoes. They of course went to investigate. It was Bobby’s turn to put on a suit and charm his way into the conversation while the boys looked around the store and talked to witnesses. “This looks like envy,” Liam said while he stood by the shoe display.
“Yeah, your seven deadly sins theory is starting to make more and more sense,” Dean agreed. Bobby came in and Dean whistled. “Looking spiffy, Bobby. What ya got?”
“I just spoke to the suspect.”
“Yeah? So, you think she’s possessed?” Sam asked.
“Don’t think so,” Bobby answered. “There's none of the usual signs, no blackouts, no loss of control. Totally lucid. Just, she really wanted those shoes. Spilled a glass of holy water on her just to be sure; nothing. Did you boys find anything around here?”
“No sulfur or anything like that,” Sam said.
“There may be something though,” Dean looked up at a security camera.
They talked their way into the security room to look at the footage. Sam sat at the computer sifting through it while the other three hovered. “Okay, here it is,” Sam pointed to the blonde woman on the footage. They all watched as red headed man walked up to her and touched her shoulder, talking to her right before she approached the woman with the shoes.
“There,” Liam pointed to the screen. “He touched and interacted with her. It looks like the demons are influencing others.”
“You’re right,” Dean agreed. “This is definitely new. Sam, print out his picture, we need to find this guy and find out for sure if he’s really possessed.”
Sam did as asked, and the search began. It led them to a bar, with Bobby, Dean, and Liam sitting in the parking lot in Bobby’s car. “You sure this is the right place?” Bobby asked.
“No,” Dean sighed. “But I spent all day canvassing this stupid town with this guy's stupid mug, and supposedly he drinks at this stupid bar.”
There was a sudden knock on the window that made them all jump. It was Sam, who climbed into the backseat with Liam chuckling to himself. “So, John Doe's name is Walter Rosen. He's from Oak Park, just west of Chicago. Went missing about a week ago.”
“The night the Devil's Gate opened?” Dean asked.
“Yeah,” Sam nodded.
“So, very likely possessed by something we’ve never seen before,” Liam sighed.
“Those demons that got out at the gate, they're gonna do all kinds of things we haven't seen,” Bobby said. “We’d better get used to it.”
“Guys,” Dean motioned toward the red headed guy heading inside the bar. “It’s showtime.”
Dean was about to get out of the car when Bobby put a hand on his shoulder to stop him. “Wait a minute. We don't know what to expect out of this guy. We should tail him till we know for sure.”
“Oh, so he kills someone and we just sit here with our junk in our hands?”
“We’re no good to anyone if we get ourselves killed,” Liam pointed out.
Everyone looked to the blond with surprised expressions. “You’re suddenly the voice of reason?” Dean smirked. “I think I’ve done stepped into the Twilight Zone.”
“Shut up!” Liam smacked him in the shoulder. “Okay, so hunting Yellow Eyes brought back the old hunting instincts. Is that such a bad thing?”
“No,” Dean shook his head. “That’s a very good thing. It means I don’t have to worry so much about you.”
“Hey, guys...” Sam said. “I don’t think sitting back and waiting is an option anymore.”
The rest of them turned to look in the direction Sam was looking and they saw Isaac and Tamara head into the bar. “Damn it!” Bobby shouted.
They all raced toward the door and tried to open it, but it was locked. Liam slammed himself against the door and winced at the sharp pain in his shoulder. “Where’s vampire strength when you need it?” he griped.
“That went with the blood drinking,” Dean shot him a look.
“Yeah, that I don’t miss so much.” He turned to Bobby’s car and pointed at it. “Battering ram.”
“Crazy ass Blondie is back,” Bobby sighed. “And he’s got the best idea I’ve heard all night. Get in the car and grab some holy water!”
“I resent the crazy part!” Liam protested as he got in the back seat again.
Once they were all in Bobby fired up the engine and floored it right into the building. The two hunters were surrounded by demons. Isaac was lying on the floor next to a bottle of drain cleaner, a puddle of the electric green liquid and blood coming out of his mouth. Tamara was being restrained. They all four got out, throwing holy water and forcing the demons back.
Sam grabbed Tamara, who was still screaming frantically for her husband. “Come on, we gotta go! He’s dead,” Sam shouted as he pushed her into the back seat. “Liam, what are you doing!”
Liam was facing the red headed demon. He was out of holy water and the fight came to blows. “Open the trunk!” he shouted. Dean opened it quickly and Liam grabbed hold of the red head and slammed him in. There was a devil’s trap on the trunk lid and Liam slammed it closed, hopping back in the car. “Go!”
Bobby sped off back to the little house Isaac and Tamara were staying in. “You really are a little crazy, you know that?” Bobby grumbled when they got out of the car and he examined Liam’s split lip.
“So I’ve been told,” Liam sighed. “Many times over the years. Jason used to call me crazy bitch, and my brother used to call me fruitcake.”
“I can see why,” Bobby motioned to the trunk.
They spray painted a devil’s trap on the ceiling and put a chair under it. Then they dragged the struggling demon out of the trunk and put him in the chair, binding his hands to it.
“I’m going back to that bar now,” Tamara said looking determined.
“Hold on a second,” Sam put a hand up to stop her.
“I left my husband bloody on the floor!”
“Okay, I understand that, but you can’t go back. How are you going to kill them? You can’t shoot them. You can’t stab them. They’re not gonna just wait in line to to get exorcised.”
“I don’t care!” she shouted.
Liam shrugged. “Hey, if she’s so eager to put herself on the chopping block...”
Sam glared at him. “Liam, that’s not the attitude we take with other hunters. We help them. Hell, we don’t even know how many we’re dealing with.”
“There’s seven,” Bobby said as he came into the room. “Liam was onto something with the seven deadly sins. ‘Binsfeld's Classification of Demons.’ In 1589, Binsfeld ID'd the seven sins, not just as human vices but as actual devils. It’s not one demon that can cause them all, we’ve got all seven right here.”
“I don't give a rat's ass if they're the Three Stooges or the Four Tops!” Tamara shouted “I'm gonna slaughter every last one of them!”
Bobby stood in front of her and stared her down. “We already did it your way. You burst in there half cocked and look what happened! These demons haven't been topside in half a millennium! We're talking medieval, dark ages! We've never faced anything close to this! So we are gonna take a breath, and figure out what our next move is!” he shouted the last part.
Her shoulders dropped a little. “We’re sorry for your loss,” Dean said quietly. “But Bobby is right.”
She huffed and headed into the demon holding room, the men following.
“So you know who I am, huh?” the demon grinned evilly at them.
“Yeah, and I can’t say we’re impressed,” Liam crossed his arms. “I’ve had demons hit me harder than that. What was that, a love tap?”
“What do you and your friends want?” Dean asked. The demon only chuckled condescendingly, so Dean opened up a bottle of holy water and splashed it on him.
The demon hissed and cried out. “We already have what we want,” he panted.
“What’s that?” Dean asked, ready to splash him again if need be.
“We're out. We're free. Thanks to you, my kind are everywhere. I am legion, for we are many. So me, I'm just celebrating. Having a little fun,” he chuckled.
“I'm gonna put you down like a dog,” Tamara growled.
“Please...” the demon laughed. “You really think you’re better than me. Which one of you can cast the first stone, huh? What about you, Dean and Liam? You two are practically the poster boys of lust.” They both shrugged, unable to really argue. “And Tamara, all that wrath. Oohh,” he clicked his tongue. “It's the reason you and Isaac became hunters in the first place, isn't it? It's so much easier to drink in the rage than to face what really happened all those years ago.”
Tamara’s face twisted in rage and she slapped him twice. Dean and Bobby had to pull her back.
The demon laughed again. “My point exactly. And you call us sins. We're not sins, man. We are natural human instinct. And you can repress and deny us all you want, but the truth is, you are just animals. Horny, greedy, hungry, and violent animals. And you know what? You'll be slaughtered like animals too. The others, they're coming for me.”
Liam rolled his eyes. “Yeah, and we’ll trap their asses too. Because you know what, I may be horny, can’t argue with that much, but I am better than you. You’re scum on my shoe, and you’re ass is going back to hell.”
Dean held out the book with the exorcism spell in it. “Someone send this clown packing.”
“My pleasure,” Tamara grabbed the book and started reading the spell.
The demon started to scream, and the rest of them headed back into the other room. “I think maybe this joker's right,” Bobby sighed. “They're gonna be hunting us. And they're not gonna quit easy.”
“Great,” Dean groaned. “There’s six of them left. We’ll be dead by dawn.”
“Have a little optimism,” Liam patted his mate’s shoulder. “There’s six of them, sure, but counting Tamara there’s five of us. We’re only outnumbered by one. They come here and we’ll have home field advantage. Plus my sword is in the car, and I’ve been practicing with it.”
“With wooden dummies,” Dean pointed out. “Those don’t hit back and try to kill you.”
“Listen to your crazy boyfriend,” Sam patted his other shoulder. “Have a little optimism. We’ve been in tight scrapes before and come out of it. We get through it by sticking together.”
Liam shook his head. “I swear, the next person to call me crazy is getting slugged. Oh, and let’s not forget, for some reason demons are really stupid.”
“Yeah, there’s that,” Dean agreed. “And don’t get so touchy about being called crazy. We say it with love.” Dean kissed his cheek.
Tamara came back in. “Demon’s out of the guy.”
“And the guy?” Sam asked.
“Didn’t make it,” she said coldly.
They prepared as best they could. Sam filled bottles with holy water while Liam sat in a chair clutching his sword. Then an old radio came to life and the lights flickered. “Here we go,” Dean cocked his shotgun and stood up.
Suddenly they heard Isaac’s voice calling out for Tamara. She looked like she was about to cry as she looked out the window at him. “Tamara! I got away, but I'm hurt bad! I need help!”
Bobby put a hand on her shoulder. “It's not him. It's one of those demons. It's possessing his corpse.”
He started pounding on the door. “Baby! Why won't you let me in? You left me behind back there. How could you do that? We swore at that lake in Michigan. Remember? We swore we would never leave each other!”
She gave a little sob. “How did he know that?”
“Demons can access your memories,” Liam said. “If you let them.”
“Not everyone is a freak like you,” Dean smirked. “And I mean that with love too,” he added quickly when Liam shot him a death glare.
“You know, just saying you mean it with love doesn’t make it all better. You are so lucky I love you.”
“You just gonna leave me out here?” The demon in Isaac started up again. “You just gonna let me die?! I guess that's what you do, dear! Like that night those things came to our house, came for our daughter! You just let her die, too.”
“You son of a bitch!” Tamara screamed and rushed for the door.
“Tamara, no!” Bobby shouted, but he was too late.
She ran through the door, breaking the salt line they had laid out, and tackled Isaac’s body, landing on top of him. She raised the huge wooden stake in her hand. “You’re not Isaac!” she growled and plunged it into his heart. There was a scream and a sizzling sound before he was still.
The other six demons rushed in. They all scattered to different rooms to deal with whichever demon chased them. Liam ran into the next room with one hot on his tail. All he had to do was stop, turn on a dime, and lunge the sword forward. The demon ran right into it, impaling himself on the tip before he even realized what happened. “Idiot,” Liam spat before heading off to see if anyone needed help.
Bobby was doing an exorcism on a fat balding guy trapped in a devil’s trap they’d spray painted on the ceiling, so Liam let him get on with it and headed upstairs. He passed a bedroom and saw Dean passionately kissing the bar waitress. He was about to break it up when he noticed three demons closing in on Sam in the other room. “I will so deal with you later,” he grumbled very quietly and moved silently down the hall.
When he got to the room the devil’s trap on the ceiling in there had been broken and a demon in a suit was strangling Sam up against the wall. They never noticed him as he put the blade through one of their backs. The woman and the one strangling Sam turned as their companion dropped to the floor dead. “What’s that in your hand?” the demon in a suit asked as he put Sam down.
“Just a little something you idiots forgot about,” Liam smirked evilly.
They rushed him and there was a flurry of limbs as they fought. Sam looked for an opportunity to jump in and help, but before he could both demons were slashed open and dead on the floor. “Holy...” Sam blinked. “Remind me never to piss you off when you’re holding something sharp.”
Liam shrugged while he admired the carnage. “I told you, Jason took raw talent and tenacity and molded it. I just had to remember and adjust to a human body. Oh, and don’t worry, Sam, I love you too,” he smirked. Just because he felt like it he crossed the room and planted a kiss on Sam’s lips. Sam tensed, but stood still for it.
Liam turned and headed downstairs with Sam behind him. Dean was holding the lust demon who was soaked in holy water while Bobby exorcised her too. They watched as the smoke tore out of her mouth and out a vent, leaving behind a very bewildered looking woman. Dean helped her into a chair and he and Bobby went over to Sam and Liam. “Her and the heavy guy are gonna make it,” Bobby said. “Lifetime of therapy bills ahead, but, still...”
“That's more than you can say for the rest of these poor bastards,” Dean sighed.
“Dude,” Sam shook his head. “You do not know how lucky we are he loves us,” he motioned to Liam. “Forget that wooden dummies don’t hit back. He remembers how to use that thing now, and damn...”
“Oh, yeah?” Dean smiled.
“Yeah,” Liam nodded with a smile of his own. “So, keep that in mind the next time you go putting your lips all over a lust demon.”
“You saw that, did you?” Dean blushed a little. “I was only distracting her so I could get her over to the holy water. Babe, I only have eyes for you now.”
He leaned in to kiss Liam who pushed him back. “Uh huh… Well, do me a favor and use some mouthwash before you go putting those lips back on me.”
Dean sighed and Bobby volunteered to take the two survivors into town and drop them somewhere, while of course advising them not to tell anyone about what happened. The other three men went and gathered the corpses, taking them into the yard. Then they started digging a burn pit while Tamara quietly went about building a funeral pyre for her husband.
Once the pit was dug Dean and Liam lined the bodies up. “This part of the job really sucks ass,” Liam sighed while he tossed the woman’s body in.
“Don’t I know it, Babe,” Dean nodded while Sam poured the salt and fuel on them.
Sam lit a matchbook and tossed it in, sending the bodies up in flames. “I’ve got a troubling question.”
“What’s that?” Dean asked.
“If the seven deadly sins got out, what else got out with them?”
“That is troubling,” Dean agreed.
“We can win this war, right?” Sam looked to his brother and Liam.
“Sure we can,” Liam wrapped an arm around Sam and hugged him. “We’ve got brains, skill, and luck on our side.”
Sam gave Liam a little smile. “Just please don’t kiss me again.”
“What?” Dean’s eyes went wide. “You kissed my brother?”
Liam shrugged. “You kissed the lust demon, I kissed your brother. I’d call that even.”
Dean shook his head. “You’re crazy, you’re trouble, and God help me, but I love you.” He pulled Liam into a deep kiss. “But, you ever kiss my brother again and I’ll kick your ass.”
“If you can,” Liam smirked.
Sam shook his head. “You’re both crazy and you’re both trouble. You two deserve each other. I’m gonna go call Natalie before it gets too late and let her know we’re all still okay.”
Sam went back in the house for privacy and Dean and Liam kept watching the fire. When Bobby returned both the fire for the possessed victims and Isaac’s funeral pyre had pretty much burnt themselves out. “If you don’t need us for anything anymore we’re gonna go grab a motel room and catch a couple of winks,” Dean said to Bobby.
Bobby nodded. “You three be careful. The world just got a lot scarier.”
“We will,” Dean gave a little smile. “Call us if you need us again.”
“Same goes for you,” Bobby called after them as they got into the Impala.
Dean drove to the nearest cheap looking motel and parked. “Two rooms I think,” he said turning to his companions. “Because, Liam, I don’t know about you, but I feel a little a lust coming on,”
“So do I,” Liam smirked.
