Liam sat on the couch playing his computer game and Dean sat by his feet drinking a beer while Sam read the paper. “Not much going on in the world right now,” Sam commented. “I’m not sure if that’s a good thing.”
“Probably not,” Dean sat his beer on a little stand. “But you know what I was thinking? We haven’t done a trip to Vegas since we met Liam. We should go.”
“Oh yeah,” Sam gave a little smile. “It is that time of year, and you’re right, we haven’t in years. Liam would have to pay though, because I’m really not comfortable using Natalie’s money for recreation. I’m not that comfortable using it period, especially since I haven’t seen her in three months now.”
Dean patted Liam’s foot. “What do you say, hot stuff? You ever been to Vegas?”
“I have, but not for decades. I got thrown out for being a little too good at gambling. But hey, as long as you let me pick the hotel and everything, why the hell not. Beats sitting around in this dump.”
“Awesome,” Dean smiled and gave Liam’s foot a little rub. “And yeah, since you’re paying, you call the shots.”
Liam got online to book their rooms. “Sweetie, would you get my wallet and bring it here?”
“Yeah,” Dean got up and fetched his wallet and brought it to him. He peeked at the screen. “Wow, you’re gonna put us in a really nice place, aren’t you?”
“I am. Problem?” Liam looked at him while he took out his debit card.
“No, you got good taste. It’s your money I guess,” Dean kissed his cheek. “I just hope you’ll be as generous as you were on your birthday.”
Liam pulled Dean in for a kiss. “Don’t worry. Because Natalie has been so generous I’ve been able to play and save my money. I’m good. I’m really good.”
They packed up and hopped in the car. They got there and got settled in and met to decide what to do. “You know what,” Sam said. “I think right now I’d like to go hiking. Why don’t you two find something to do and we’ll meet for dinner, okay?”
Dean looked disappointed. “Okay.” He turned to Liam. “I guess if I wanted to go to a strip club you’d slit my throat.”
“You guessed right, unless it’s a male strip club. That’s what I wanna do.”
Dean shook his head. “If you’re not okay with me staring at mostly naked women, why would I be okay with you staring at male strippers?”
Liam crossed his arms. “Aren’t you into men too? Or, am I just an idiot?”
“Let’s please not fight. I am very into you, so, let’s go see male strippers.”
Liam kissed his cheek and they found the perfect place. Liam really enjoyed himself and got into it. Dean pretty much sat and drank. “You don’t look like you’re having much fun,” a waiter commented as he brought Dean another drink.
Dean shrugged. “It’s complicated. Have you ever done something you didn’t really want to just to make someone else happy?”
The waiter chuckled. “Yeah, been there. I take it you’re with that blond guy who looks like he’s really enjoying himself.”
“Yep, that would be my boyfriend.”
“You’re in a relationship with another man, but this isn’t your thing?”
“No, it’s really not. If I had things my way I’d be watching women, but he’d probably literally kill me, so here we are because this is what he wanted to do. I can’t explain it. I find him totally hot, but other men just don’t do much for me. I mean, a little maybe, but...”
“No offense, but that’s kinda weird.”
Dean chuckled and took a drink. “Welcome to my life.”
“I think you won’t let yourself enjoy what’s up on that stage,” Liam came back to the table.
“What?” Dean shot him a strange look.
“You heard me. You have this established view of yourself. The game changed when you met me, and I remember it scared the crap out of you. You allow yourself to lust after me because the alternative is I go bye bye and you don’t want that, but you’re dragging your heels here.” Liam ran back into the crowd and came back with a good looking dark haired man. “This is my new friend Jared. I want you to kiss him.”
“Uh, Liam, I don’t think...”
“It’s cool with me,” Jared flashed a smile. “I’m single and would never turn down a kiss from a hot guy. Hell, you’re both smokin hot, so if you wanna take me back to your room...”
“Um,” Liam blinked. “Wouldn’t go that far. Just, Dean, give him a kiss. I promise I won’t get mad, even if you like it, because I’m telling you to do it. In fact, here,” he grabbed Jared and planted one on him. “Your turn. Go on.”
Dean shook his head. “You are drunk and out of your mind, but okay...” He very awkwardly leaned in to kiss Jared, but the moment their lips touched he seemed to relax.
“Well?” Liam looked at Dean expectantly.
“Well, I just kissed a man that wasn’t you, and it really wasn’t that bad.” He looked around. “Actually, none of this is that bad. I think something in my brain just shifted again.”
“Awesome,” Liam grinned and pulled him in for a passionate kiss. “Look and enjoy tonight, and then after this, you stare only at this ass or I’ll kill you.”
Dean grabbed and squeezed Liam’s ass. “You know I love you dearly, and I love your ass.” Dean’s phone beeped and he looked down at it. “Sam wants us to meet him somewhere and wear our suits. Wonder what the hell that’s about.”
Liam shrugged. “Let’s get changed and go find out.”
When they arrived they discovered they were at a wedding chapel. They walked down a long hall and opened double doors. Sam greeted them with a big smile and a pink carnation pinned to his suit. “Good, you’re here.”
“I thought you were out, uh, becoming one with the land or some crap,” Dean said as Sam ushered them to stand up front.
Sam didn’t answer as he moved them both into position. “Alright. Now...” he started pinning pink carnations on them too.
“What is this?” Dean asked.
“Uh, apparently, uh, pink is for loyalty,” Sam shrugged.
“All right, so, what's the pretext? What are we, uh, wedding crashers, huh? We looking for some kind of siren or what?” Dean asked, trying to figure the whole thing out.
Sam shook his head. “No. Nothing like that. All right, um... So, a little sudden. But life is short, so I'll keep this shorter.” He put a hand on Dean’s shoulder and had a really goofy grin on his face. “I'm in love, and I'm getting married.”
“Really?” Dean looked surprised. “You got Natalie to come out here for this?”
“Who?” Sam looked a little confused.
“Natalie, the mother of your child,” Liam reminded him.
Sam shook his head. “Oh, no, I met someone here.”
Dean and Liam shot each other a look as a woman in a wedding dress came down the aisle. She lifted her veil and Dean gasped and Liam nearly fell over. “Becky?” Dean blinked.
They watched as the two were married, then sat with them in the chapel. “How did this happen?” Dean asked. “This morning you were on the phone with Natalie and John telling them how much you missed them, and now this?”
Sam shrugged. “Short version? We met. We ate and talked and fell in love. And, you know, here we are.”
Dean shook his head. “This is insane! How do you expect this to work? You told me you didn’t want to marry Natalie partly because of how crazy our lives are.”
“Yeah, well...” Sam sighed.
Becky smiled at them. “I read every book. So, open eyes, you know? Open eyes.”
“I think you’re just an idiot,” Liam commented.
Sam growled. “Look, I know you say what’s on your mind, and you smell like you’ve been drinking so that makes it worse, but that is my wife you’re insulting.”
Liam blinked at him while a man came up with a folder. “Your bill.”
“I got it. You two do your brother thing,” Becky got up.
Dean glared at his brother. “Really?! Superfan ninety nine?”
“Dean, look. Honest to God, I had the exact Same opinion of her as you do. But when we got past the whole book thing, I found out that she's great and I was the dick.”
“Yeah, you know, speaking of the whole, uh, book thing... Becky randomly shows up during Vegas week?” Dean scoffed.
“Very good point,” Liam nodded.
“Okay, um, what are you trying to say?” Sam looked upset.
“I'm saying maybe she knew you were gonna be here. Maybe, uh, Chuck wrote about it.”
Sam shook his head. “Dean, you're paranoid.”
“And you’re in love?” Dean looked skeptical.
“You know what, Dean? Um, how about this? Becky and I are gonna go up to her place in Delaware. Um, why don't you try and wrap your dome around this, get a little supportive, then give us a call?”
Sam walked off with Becky and Dean turned to Liam. “Something is very wrong with this.”
“Yeah,” Liam agreed. “I want a wedding.”
Dean sighed. “I know I told you I would, but one, I don’t think it’s legal in the state of Nevada. Two, I need you to focus on the Sam and Becky thing. I know you’re hammered, but stay with me.”
“Okay, Sam and Becky thing,” Liam nodded. “Alright, find me a needle syringe thing. I’m gonna go find a candy store. Do we know what Becky’s favorite candies are?”
“No, but you’re wasted and you already have a plan?”
“Yes.”
“I love your brain,” Dean kissed him and went to find him a needle.
They met back at the hotel two hours later. Dean saw the big bag from a candy store and a lot of boxes of chocolates. One box had Sam written on it, and another had Becky on it. “Babe, I think you went a little overboard.”
“I think I did too, but I really like chocolates and the nice lady behind the counter, she let me try stuff and I couldn’t pick.”
“Kind of like with the tea. Okay. Well, I got you your needle. There is now a nice man out there who thinks I’m a drug addict, but such is life.”
“Thank you,” Liam kissed his cheek and took the needle. Then he dumped out Sam’s box and filled the needle with something he was brewing in the coffee pot. He picked up a chocolate and injected it and put it back in the box.
“What’s that? What are you doing?” Dean asked.
“These are cherry cordials, Sam’s favorite. I am injecting them with love potion antidote.”
“You think? My god, you really are an evil genius. Best part is you were cut out of the books so Becky doesn’t know that.”
Liam nodded. “This is true. I suppose that’s one perk to having been conveniently forgotten.”
“Who cares about the people who read the books,” Dean brushed his hair out of the way and nipped at the edge of his ear. “I love you, massive amount of chocolate and all.”
“I love you too. Now, find out where Becky lives and we’re going to pay them a visit and be very nice and supportive. And I only bought seventeen pounds.”
“Wow. That is… You are… Okay.”
They drove out to Becky’s place. They were eating breakfast when Dean noticed something odd in the paper. “Hey, look at this. A guy wins the Powerball, then a few days later gets hit by a truck. That sound weird to you?”
“Yeah, it does. Think maybe there’s a case here?”
“Yeah, I do. But let’s go visit Sam first. Maybe we can talk him into working with us.”
Liam blinked. “Did I not do a good enough job when it was just you and I?”
Dean sighed. “Of course you did. You’re a very good hunter. It’s just, he’s my brother and we’ve been doing this together most of our lives. I want my brother back.”
“We’ll get him back,” Liam rubbed Dean’s back.
They went to the apartment and rang the doorbell. Sam answered and Dean held out a waffle iron with a red ribbon on it. “Me being supportive. Congratulations to you and the missus.”
“Thanks,” Sam took the iron.
“And here is my gift,” Liam held out the boxes of chocolates. “I got you cherry cordials because I know they’re your favorite. I don’t know what Becky likes, so I got her champagne truffels. They’re really good.”
“Thanks, Liam,” Sam smiled. “I’m sure she’ll love them.”
“We good?” Dean asked. Sam nodded. “Good, because I'm sniffing a case in this town. The score is... Guy wins Powerball, gets squished by a truck. Second guy went from the bench to the Majors. Oh, and one week later, his face was the catcher's mitt, huh?”
Becky came out of the bedroom. “Our first thought was crossroads demons, but there's that ten year time frame on collecting souls.” She led them to the bedroom where there was research up on the wall. “Then there's cursed object, like in ‘Bad Day at Black Rock,’ but we haven't been able to connect the victims yet.”
Dean looked a little upset. “You're working this case together?”
Sam smiled. “Yeah. I know. Right? I mean, I guess all those Chuck Shurley books paid off.”
Dean started to open his mouth but then Liam grabbed his hand and gave him a little squeeze. “Hey, why don’t we make a little game out of this?” Liam suggested. “Each couple will do their own investigation, and we’ll see who figures it out first.”
Becky’s eyes widened. “That sounds like a great idea!”
“Awesome,” Liam gave her a fake smile. “I guess we’ll be on our way then because we have some catching up to do. But um, could I use your bathroom quick first?”
“Sure,” Becky pointed the way.
Dean stood awkwardly looking at their research until Liam returned. “That’s better. We’ll get out of your hair now. We should um, do something together soon. You know, like celebration dinner after we close this case.”
“That would be nice,” Sam smiled. “Glad to see you coming around.”
“Yeah, well, we are family now kind of. Dean and I aren’t legally married but...”
“But I still consider you to be like my brother in law.”
“How sweet. You’re like a brother to me too,” Liam pulled him down to kiss his cheek. He turned to Becky. “Hurt him and they’ll never find your body.”
They went back out to the car and Dean sighed. “This is where we’re at. People’s dreams have started coming true, and then a little while later they die in a freak accident. Sam is Becky’s dream, as sick as that is...”
“I’m with you on that,” Liam nodded. “But that means Becky will die a gruesome death soon, so problem solved there.”
“Trust me, I hate that bitch right now, but I don’t think she deserves to die. That, and we need to stop any other deaths that may happen.”
“Alright, back to the motel for research.”
The next morning there was an article in the paper about a salesman suddenly becoming CEO of the company. “There’s a lead if I ever saw one,” Liam tossed the paper at Dean while they ate.
They finished their food and dressed up in suits to go talk to the guy. They sat on a couch in the office while a very unpleasant seeming woman yelled at the secretary over a misspelling of her name. Then Sam and Becky came out of the office. Dean shot his brother a sad look as they passed each other. “Throw a rock, hit a reporter these days, eh?” the CEO chuckled as they sat down.
Dean smiled. “Well, your story's a big deal over at the, uh, the ‘Actuarial Insider’.”
“Go ahead. Shoot.”
“All right. Uh... how'd you get the gig?” Dean asked.
“Board came to me, asked. Said yes.”
“Just out of the blue?”
“Pretty much.”
“Huh. And, uh, any idea how the board landed on you over your supervisors?”
“Um, they didn't say.”
“Could you tell us what specifically excited the board about your actual qualifications?”
“Say, fellas, what's with the third degree?”
Liam smiled at him. “We don’t mean to make you uncomfortable here. It’s just, you know, salesman straight to CEO? It’s kind of, um, interesting, don’t you think? But, why don't you tell us what it felt like when your big dream came true?”
“Look, on the record, it's great.”
“Off the record?” Dean asked.
“It's not my big dream.”
“Wait. You didn't want this job?” Liam looked a little surprised.
“Hell, no. I'm a sales guy. I was good in sales.”
The unpleasant woman who turned out to be his wife came in and said a few things to her husband. When she left Liam turned to the guy. “Your, uh, wife seems pretty stoked on the promotion, doesn’t she?”
“Honestly, I've never seen her happier. I have no idea how I'm gonna tell her I have to resign. The news is just gonna...”
“Well, thanks for your time,” Dean reached to shake his hand. “You thinking what I’m thinking?” Dean said to Liam on the way out.
“If you’re thinking that the wife did it, then yes.”
They chased after her and Dean stopped her on a staircase. “Mrs. Burrows? Hi.”
“Can I help you?” she looked a bit annoyed.
“Yes, we're, uh, we're doing a story on your husband's promotion. Wanted to ask you a few questions.”
“I'm sorry. I can't today. If you schedule it with his girl...”
She turned to leave and Dean put a hand on her shoulder. “Okay, you know what? I'm trying to save you from a really bad accident.”
“Are you threatening me?” her eyes narrowed.
“No, I'm pointing out a pattern. Why do people keep thinking I'm threatening them? Look, for your own good, what did you do to get him promoted?”
“I have no idea what you're talking about. Now leave me alone. Or do I have to call security?”
Dean sighed and let her go, but they followed her. She was on the phone on her way out and she stopped under a giant light fixture. The fixture fell and Dean tackled her to pull her out of the way. “You okay?” he asked.
“How did you know?” she looked stunned.
“Because you're not the first,” Dean answered. “Come on.”
“You want to tell us what's up here?” Liam eyed her.
The woman sighed. “I was having lunch with friends. This guy heard me bitching. Next thing I know, he's making me an offer. Craig's job for my soul. I know. Hilarious. I mean, what have I got to lose?”
Liam raised an eyebrow. “Well, there's your soul. What kind of demon deal is this?”
“What are you talking about? Demon?”
“Cupcake, you made a deal with a demon in exchange for your everlasting. Except those are ten year contracts. Why's the bill coming due so fast? That part I don’t get.”
Dean shook his head. “I don't know, but I got a bad feeling about who's next. We got to find Sam, pronto.”
“Yeah, but if Becky made the deal she’s the door nail and I’m not sure I care.”
“He could get hurt in the crossfire.”
Liam sighed. “That’s true. Let’s go.”
They entered Becky’s apartment and found it empty. Dean started looking around for clues. Liam got on her computer and started typing things in. “Find anything?” Dean asked.
“Yeah, exactly where Sam is. I put a tracking device in his jacket. Figured it might come in handy.”
Dean kissed Liam and looked at the screen. “Okay, let’s go get him.”
They drove up to the cabin and broke in. They found Sam tied to the bed with a handkerchief stuffed in his mouth. Liam pulled the handkerchief out. “I see my antidote worked.”
“Your antidote?” Sam looked confused.
“Yeah, those cherries I gave you, I put a love potion antidote in them.”
“Yep, it worked. She ran out and went to go get more. Untie me please so we can get out of here.”
Dean and Liam untied him and Sam started searching for his pants. Liam sat on the bed. “I know you probably just want to leave, Sam, but you are legally married to her, and I think we should give her a nasty surprise.”
When Becky returned they were all three seated on the bed staring at her. Liam pulled out a gun. “Remember when I said if you hurt him they’ll never find your body? You see, I meant it. Because you only read the books, and because of Chuck’s infinite wisdom to cut me out, you don’t really know me. Your stupid ass underestimated me.”
Becky started crying. “Sam, I’m sorry! I just wanted you to love me. Is that so wrong?”
“Uh, when you slip me a love potion, yeah...” Sam glared at her. “I want a divorce.”
“And you owe me five hundred dollars,” Liam said.
“For what?”
“Our Vegas trip you ruined. I got two rooms that weren’t used. I want my money back, and tears don’t work on me sister.”
Becky sank down on a chair. “All I wanted was to have Sam and show him off at my reunion. I just want to be loved!”
“Damn it,” Liam growled. “Look, the problem is you only thought of yourself. Sam is a living breathing human being with a life and people who love him for him, not what was written about him in some books. If you really care about him, don’t you think he deserves to keep that?” He took out his phone and pulled up a picture of Sam and John to show her. “Don’t you think this adorable little boy deserves to have his daddy?”
Her eyes softened as she looked at the picture. “You have a son?”
“Yeah, I do,” Sam nodded. “And that’s him when I last saw him months ago. You didn’t bother to think about any of that, did you? I happen to actually love his mother too.”
“I’m a monster!” she wailed.
“No, you’re an idiot,” Liam corrected her. “Love is something you have to work at. Fairy tales, while nice and all, ain’t reality. Look at Dean and I. I love him more than anything, but if Chuck had bothered to put any of the real story in the books you’d know it hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing the entire time. There are times he wants to choke the life out me. There are times I want to bash his face in. We’ve had a few fights.”
“Then there’s the fact he’s two hundred pounds of crazy in a hundred and fifty pound body,” Dean added. “He’s not perfect and I’m well aware of that. Because of his father he’s ten kinds of screwed up. If I so much as glance at a hot woman his head practically explodes. He’s prone to random weird shit like putting on a dress and dancing in the rain. Yeah, he actually did that. When he discovered online tea shopping he couldn’t decide what he wanted so he just bought everything that looked good and spent a little over two hundred dollars. He went to the candy store to buy those chocolates for you guys and bought seventeen pounds for himself because again, he couldn’t decide. So um, no self control in the shopping for himself department.”
“But the point is you love me,” Liam interrupted.
“Yeah, I do, very much, the whole nut job package. And then there’s the give and take. I do things for him to make him happy. For me he goes with me around the country staying in one crap motel after the other. I know he’s not thrilled with the life, but he doesn’t complain.”
Liam shrugged. “Yeah, the life sucks. I mean, it might sound exciting in a book, but when you’re the one getting thrown into shit and shot and stabbed… Everything I own in the world is in bags in the car. I better quit I’m starting to depress myself.”
“You getting their point, Becky?” Sam asked her. “If you want someone to love you don’t drug someone, find the lid to your pot, and don’t expect things to be perfect. I mean, my girlfriend is pretty amazing, but I’ve fought with her.”
“Yeah, I get it,” she nodded. “And I’m sorry. But the last few days have been great. The sex was just awesome.”
“Oh, god,” Sam groaned and put his face in his hands. “You… Oh god! I feel very violated right now.”
“And you were right about Guy. He’s a crossroads demon. He offered to give me you for my soul.”
Liam sighed. “Well, I was going to shoot you, but I think I just thought of a better use for you.”
“What?” she asked.
“Bait. Even though I am just bursting with faults,” he shot Dean a glare, “I’m also very smart. Like there was an antidote for love potion in the cherries I gave Sam.”
“You’re the reason it kept wearing off?” she looked a little angry.
“Yep. And now I have another idea.”
Becky sat alone at a table in the restaurant and Guy walked up to her. “Becks! You missed the party.”
Becky gave him a little smile. “Yeah. Well... weird night.”
“So, what are we thinking?”
“Okay. I'm in,” she stood up and faced Guy.
“You're making the right choice,” he grinned at her.
“I know. So, we seal the deal with a kiss?”
“Exactly. Pucker up, sweetheart.”
She struck a lighter and dropped it on the carpet. The flames shot up and suddenly Guy was in a devil’s trap. Sam, Dean, and Liam appeared. Liam held a bottle. “Blueberry vodka. The answer to all of life's problems.”
Becky turned around. “You see that, Sam? I did it just like we said! I am awesome! I'll be over here.”
Guy smirked at them. “Dean Winchester. This is really thrilling. Hey, can I have your autograph?”
Dean grabbed Liam’s knife. “Sure. Yeah, I'll, uh, carve it into your spleen. So, how you running your little scam?”
“Well, how do you mean, Dean?”
“Signing ten year deals, snuffing them that week,” Sam said.
Guy looked offended. “Well, I would never. No. Rules of the road, can't lay a hair on any of my clients.”
“Right,” Dean nodded. “So how you cheating it?”
“I'm not a cheater. I'm an innovator. It's called a loophole, you moron. Yes, when a person bargains away his soul, he gets a decade, technically. But accidents happen.”
Sam tilted his head. “So you're arranging accidents and collecting early?”
“Oh, please. White gloves. I don't get my hands dirty. That's why it's important to have a capable intern.” The intern appeared and the three of them flew backward. “What time did I ask you to be here?” The intern broke the devil’s trap and let Guy out.
Guy advanced on Dean and started choking him. The intern started choking Sam. Liam got up and the intern threw him again into the wall. Becky picked up Liam’s knife and tried to stab the intern, but the intern let go of Sam long enough to throw her across the room into a table.
The distraction gave Liam enough time to get up and put his hands around the intern’s throat. Black smoke poured out of the intern’s mouth and exploded in fire. Liam then ran over to where Becky lay and grabbed his knife and tossed it to Dean. Dean held it to Guy’s throat. “How many deals you got cooking in this town, Madoff?”
“Fifteen.”
“Yeah, well, call them off, or I'll cut my own loophole in your throat.”
“Oh, crap,” Guy groaned.
“Hello, boys,” Crowley appeared.
Liam sighed. “Things just got interesting.”
Crowley smirked at them. “Sam, mazel tov. Who's the lucky lady?”
“You're Crowley!” Becky shouted.
Crowley turned to her. “And you're, well, I'm sure you have a wonderful personality, dear.”
Dean held Guy with the knife to his throat. “Ah, another step, and I'll Colombian necktie your little friend here.”
“Please, don't let him get off that easy.”
“Sir, I don't think that you-” Guy protested.
“I know exactly what you've been doing. A little birdie named Jackson sold you out, emailed all the juicy deets to my suggestion box.” He looked at the dead intern on the floor. “I assume... That's my whistle blower? Shame. Had a future. Unfortunately, you don't.”
“I was just...”
“There's only one rule, make a deal, keep it.”
“Well, technically, I didn't...”
“There's a reason we don't call our chits in early, consumer confidence. This isn't Wall Street! This is Hell! We have a little something called integrity. This gets out, who'll deal with us? Nobody! Then where are we?”
“I don't know.”
“That's right. You don't. Because you're a stupid, shortsighted little prat. Now, hand the jackass over. I'll cancel every deal he's made.”
“What are you gonna do with him?” Dean asked.
“Make an example of him. Fair trade, right? We all go our separate ways. No harm done.”
“What, out of the goodness of your heart?” Sam looked skeptical.
Crowley turned to him. “Years of demons nipping at your heels, haven't seen one for months. Wonder why?”
“We've been a little busy,” Dean said.
“Hunting leviathan, yes, I know. That's why I told my lads to stay clear of you meatheads. You met that dick yet? Smuggest tub of goo since Mussolini. I hate the bastards. Squash them all, please. I'll stay clear.”
“Rip up the contracts first,” Dean insisted.
Crowley snapped his fingers. “Done. Your turn.”
“No...” Guy protested as Dean shoved him hard toward Crowley.
“Pleasure, gentlemen,” Crowley nodded as he grabbed Guy and disappeared.
Liam blinked. “Okay then.” He turned to Becky. “You were dumb enough to think stabbing a demon would be easy weren’t you? So, how much fun is it getting thrown into crap?”
“It hurts,” she admitted. “But that was still kind of awesome.”
Sam shook his head. “Well, now you’re gonna give me an annulment or I’m going to let Liam shoot you.”
“Refuse!” Liam shouted. “What? I wanna shoot her.”
Dean shook his head. “Babe, come here.” Liam went over to him and Dean hugged him. “I love you dearly, but we don’t shoot people that aren’t possessed.”
Becky sighed. “Get the papers and I’ll sign them.”
“Good. Thank you,” Sam nodded.
They went back to the motel and Sam got online to get the papers. “Liam, thank you so much for getting me out of that mess,” he said while he navigated his way through things.
“Of course,” Liam hugged him. “I don’t know if you remember what I said before, but I meant it. You’re like an adopted brother as well as a friend.”
“Same here,” Sam gave him a little smile.
“Although someone was very quick to point out all my flaws earlier,” Liam shot Dean a glare.
“We were making a point,” Dean shot a look back at him. “And that point was that you do have flaws and I do know what they are. But I still love you, all of you, even when you want to shoot someone.”
“I love you too,” Liam pushed Dean down on the bed and crawled into his lap to snuggle him.
“You have been feeling very affectionate a lot lately,” Dean commented.
Liam blinked at him. “That another flaw?”
“No, just an observation. I like cuddling you when we’re not working, but is something wrong?”
“No, well, maybe. I just… Ever since you went and cheated on me I’ve been upset, and when I’m upset I want cuddled. It’s kind of confusing because I’m mad at you but at the same time you’re my cuddle person.”
“Well, as long as you’re not kneeing me in the junk again I’ll take it. Are you at least less mad now than you were before?”
“Yeah, I’m working through it.”
“Good. Let me know if there’s anything I can do.”
After breakfast the next day Sam took the annulment papers to Becky. They sat at her table and he signed them before sliding them over to her. “It wasn't all bad, right?” she looked at him hopefully. He glared at her. “So, I'll see you again?”
“Yeah, probably not,” Sam answered. Becky’s face fell and she signed the papers. Sam sighed. “Look, I think you’re probably not a bad person deep down. Just… Well, let the right person find you, okay? I mean, it’s like Dean and Liam were saying yesterday. Those two were made for each other. Both of them have things about them that would drive most people crazy, but they love each other.”
Becky nodded and Sam took the papers and stuffed them in an envelope to mail. Then he returned to the motel. “I wanna go home now,” he said.
“But I thought we were going to wait on that,” Dean looked confused.
“Well, we at least know how to burn and chop their heads off, right? That, and we haven’t seen much of them. I need to see my family.”
“Okay,” Dean nodded. “Drop the annulment papers in the mailbox and we’ll go.”
Sam nodded. “I will definitely do that. Um, Liam, how much money you got and how generous are you feeling?”
“Why? What do you need?”
“There’s something I want to do and it’s gonna cost, but you know I’ve got no money. I really hate asking, but it’s important.”
“Okay. Whatever you need.”
They drove back to Memphis and Sam smiled as he stepped in the door. Natalie and John were waiting for them. “Daddy!” John shouted and Sam ran over to hug and tickle him.
“God, have I missed you two! Um, Natalie, there’s something I have to tell you, and I need you to stay calm.”
She frowned. “I’m not gonna like this, am I?”
“No, probably not. Uh, you remember I told you about the prophet Chuck who pretty much wrote our lives into books?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, there’s this really big fan named Becky. In some ways she makes Liam look sane because she went to Vegas to look for me because Chuck must’ve wrote about our yearly Vegas trips in his books. I was there because we decided to go again this year.”
Natalie glared at him. “Are you trying to tell me what I think you are?”
“Yes and no. She got this love potion from this demon and somehow she slipped it to me. I married her.”
“You what?” Natalie shouted.
“Natalie, I’m sorry. I was under the effects of the love potion and not myself, and I just… But don’t worry. Liam slipped me an antidote and she ran out of potion and I am me again. I filed for an annulment, the papers are in the mail. I’ll officially no longer be married ninety days after the clerk’s office gets the paperwork.”
“That’s good,” Natalie nodded, but she still looked upset. “Did you two, um, consummate your marriage?”
“I honestly don’t remember, but she made a comment that suggests we did. Believe me, I don’t like that any more than you do. It makes me feel extremely violated because if it weren’t for that potion I wouldn’t have touched her with a ten foot pole.”
“What comment was that?”
“She said the sex was awesome or something like that. Really, I don’t remember. I remember meeting her and trying to be nice. Then it’s a blank until I woke up tied to her bed. Dean and Liam rescued me, and now here we are, the place I would much rather be. This isn’t the way I wanted to do this, but the whole mess made me realize something.”
“What’s that?”
He pulled out a jewelry box and opened it to reveal a diamond ring. It was a princess cut diamond surrounded small round diamonds in a square shape. Then small round diamonds covered the top of the band. “I want to be married to you.”
She gasped when she saw the ring. “It’s beautiful.”
“Liam helped me pick it out. Then he paid for it. But um, will you marry me?”
Natalie smiled at him. “Yes, Sam, I’ll marry you.”
He hugged and kissed her. Then he took the ring to put it on her finger. He frowned when it was a little too big. “Looks like we guessed your size wrong.”
“I’ll get it resized, don’t worry about that.” She took the box and put it back in. “For the moment it will go on the dresser until I take it in tomorrow. Sam, I love you and I really missed you. And the ring really is gorgeous. Thank you, Liam.”
“Happy to help,” Liam smiled. “I wanted to shoot Becky, but they wouldn’t let me.”
Natalie smirked. “Well, I think they should’ve let you shoot her.”
Sam chuckled. “I had a feeling you would say that. Why don’t we take John to the park and have a little family time? I really missed both of you like crazy, and he’s gotten so big!”
“I would like that,” Natalie smiled and kissed him again. “We missed you too.”
