Looks like Mom and Grams have been keeping secrets (again). Phoenix is dating a reporter for the Daily Planet who is really the demon Phyre who has plans for the half witch/half whitelighter. Will Phoenix be able to choose between his family and a love that burns hotter and darker than the very flames of the Underworld? M/M, Language, OC, Crossover, Character Death

Chapter Eight

Phyre really had not seen it coming, but it did anyway. The fire beams hit him square in the chest and sent him flying across the bedroom through the wall into the already destroyed bathroom. He moved to push the rubble off him but Phoenix only blasted him again, screaming at the top of his lungs, “How could you?”

Phyre was blown back into the tub crushing it to pieces, “You’re not better than the monster that killed that boy!”

He blasted Phyre again and again and again until they were in the kitchen, “I killed a human being Kal!”

Another blast hit him and he took it as he watched Phoenix fall to his knees getting exhausted, “I trusted you!”

Phyre moved to get up but the beams only flashed knocking him down again. He could have just dodged them but Phoenix needed to let it out. He watched as the red faded from those luminous green eyes, “I trusted you.”

Phyre looked at him and slowly shimmered back into his alien form, “I did what I had to do to protect you Phe.”

Phoenix screamed, “Protect me from what?”

“All the demons of the Underworld Phe,” he yelled, “I can’t be with you all the time and they would kill you just to hurt me!”

“He’s right,” a silky female voice said from across the room, “My little firebird.”

Phyre was on his feet in a flash, “Seer!”

Phoenix was in no mood for company, “Who the hell are you?”

The Seer looked at him, “A friend.”

Phyre interrupted, “I did as the council asked.”

The Seer nodded, “You did indeed my lord as I knew you would. You may now return with your consort,” the Seer said gazing at Phoenix’s beautiful nude body, “Although, nudity is nice my lord, your little firebird might need clothes.”

Phoenix felt himself shake with rage, hut, fear, “What?”

The Seer ignored him, “The ceremony takes place at midnight.”

She then flashed out leaving Phyre to look at his trembling Phoenix. He did not know if it was from fear or anger. It was more than likely a mixture of both which could be very dangerous.

He took a slow step forward as to not spook him, “Phe?”

Phoenix blinked, “I have to go.”

“Go where,” Phyre asked.

“I have a show to do,” he said and vanished in red lights.

Phyre just stood there looking at the mess that was all around him. So much for getting that deposit back. Phoenix just needed some time to process and accept what was happening. He had done what he had to do in order to protect him even though he could not help but see Mr. Kent smiling sadly at him as he quickly went after his Phoenix.

Piper and Paige were sitting at the bar of their club waiting to open. They had just lost their little brother to darkness, but the man was alive. Wow, they felt like shit.

Piper turned around to see Phoenix walking up to the stage, “I can work with this.”

Piper jumped to her feet and ran to him throwing her arms around him, “You didn’t kill him Phoenix. He’s alive.”

Phoenix pulled back from the touch, “I saw him bleeding. I had him cut his own cock off.”

“Leo,” Paige said, “healed him when you vanished.”

Phoenix stumbled back to sit down on the stage, “He raped that child and then killed him,” he said looking at his hands, “So much blood.”

Piper took his hands, “Its ok Phoenix. He’s not dead,” she said, “Just dickless and a nasty bruise on his face where kicked him.”

Phoenix said softly, “I’m not a murderer.”

The doors opened and people started to come inside. Paige looked at him, “Are you going to be ok Phoenix?”

“Is that a piano,” he asked.

“Yes,” Piper said, “Why?”

Phoenix got to his feet, “Then I’ll be fine.”

Both of them watched him walk up the steps to go behind stage to prepare for the show later. Piper went and quickly put the latest soundtrack in and the club started to get packed.
****************************************************

Phoenix was sitting in a chair behind stage thinking things over to him self. Clark, Kal, Phyre had lied to him. He had almost killed a man for raping and killing an innocent child that had looked almost like Kal. He had intended for the man to die and he had to admit it felt good controlling his actions making him cut off his own cock. It had actually been a lot of fun watching the look of horror and pain cross the bastards ugly face as he had not choice but to do his bidding. He had never felt so free in all his life.

He could hear the music playing out in the bar area and could hear people chattering and being loud. He got to his feet and walked through the curtain to go sit at the bar until it was time for him to come up with a song to sing.

Piper smiled at him and she pushed a glass of Mountain Dew in front of him. He looked at it and then at her, “How did you know?”

“It’s my favorite to,” Paige told him as she took a seat next to him, “I can’t wait to hear you sing.”

He took a sip from his drink and looked at her, “I’m not sure what I’ll sing, since all I have is a piano.”

Piper looked a little sorry about canceling the bad but she did what she had to do. She gave his glass a refill, “You’re family now the drinks are on the house.”

Phoenix smiled as he looked out at the dance floor to see Kal walking towards him. He quickly turned back around and Paige saw the look on his face and touched his shoulder, “What’s wrong?”

Phoenix tuned his head to smile at her, “It’s nothing.”

He could feel Kal looking hard at his back and he wanted nothing more than to go and throw himself in his arms but he could not talk to him right now. He knew and accepted that Kal did what he had to do in order to protect him, but to have him try and kill someone just seemed too extreme even for someone who lived in Smallville for most of their life.

Piper noticed her little brother’s discomfort about something and took it that he was feeling remorse for what he did that bastard. It was a good thing, but she understood how easy it was to use your powers for vengeance. She watched him stand up and ask her, “Where is your restroom?”

She pointed to the big sign that said restroom and watched as he walked over and went through the door. She leaned over and asked Paige, “What’s up with him?”

Paige shook her head, “He just needs time to adjust to all of this,” she said, “Him being here means we have not lost him yet.”

Piper kept looking at the door feeling pain for her little brother who was having his entire world fall down around him only to be built into something new. She smiled at Paige and sent another Mountain Dew her way.
******************************************************

Phoenix stood in front of the sink looking at him self in the mirror. He let out a sigh and blinked to see Kal standing behind him looking sad. He bent over and turned the water on putting his hands under the faucet, “I can’t talk to you right now.”

Phyre closed his eyes, “I did it to protect you Phe.”

Phoenix turned the water off and walked by him to the hand drier, “I didn’t ask you to seduce me into almost killing a man.”

“Almost,” Phyre asked.

“Piper told me Leo healed him in time,” Phoenix told him, “I got to go.”

Phyre stood there in complete shock, “Shit.”
********************************************************

Piper got up on the stage and the man at the counter killed the music. She picked up the microphone and said, “My I have your attention please, everyone.”

Heads turned to look at the gorgeous woman who owned the night club and cheered. Piper could not help but blush, “Well, we can just look at me all night.”

That made the dancers go wild as she did some silly poses like a supermodel and then shushed them, “I have a great guest here with me tonight who just so happens to be my little brother. Everyone, give it up for Phoenix Kent!”

The crowd clapped and whistled and then fell silent as the lights went off all around them. Blue lights on the floor came on so people could see where to step and then a black light fell on Phoenix who was sitting at a piano that was darker than ebony. He looked up and smiled at Piper softly, “Thanks, Piper.”

She smiled warmly at him and walked off the stage as he began to address the audience, “Grab the one you love, because this song goes out to you lucky ones.”
**********************************************

Paige could not believe how regal and drop dead gorgeous Phoenix looked under that spotlight. She closed her mouth when Piper elbowed her laughing, “Flies.”

Paige snorted as they both saw a very handsome man sit down at an empty table which made Paige whistle, “Wow.”

Piper laughed, “I’ve never seen him here before.”

Paige got up, “I’m going to go talk to him.”

Piper smiled as Paige walked over to the table, “Hi, is this your first time at P3?”

Phyre smiled kindly even though he was depressed as hell, “Yes.”

“Cool,” Paige said, “That’s my little brother up there about to sing.”

Phyre always loved this part, “It’s about time I got to meet my boyfriend’s relatives.”

Paige’s mouth fell open and Phyre laughed and held his hand out to her, “Hi, I’m Clark.”

Paige just looked at him and then the offered hand, “Wow, I mean, nice, oh damn,” she looked around for her sister, “Enjoy the show, excuse me.”

He could not help but watch in amusement as she walked off into the crowd and then turned back to look sadly at Phoenix who seemed to be going off in a tangent.

Piper looked up at Paige as she set down flustered, “Married?”

“Gay,” she said which made Piper howl with laughter, “And Phoenix’s boyfriend.”

That made her sober, “What?”

“Do you think Grams is right,” she asked, “Could he be the demon?”

Piper looked over at the handsome man who looked beyond the word sad. She looked up at Phoenix who was about to sing. He had the ear of everyone in the club, “Let’s wait and see.”
******************************************************

Phoenix felt like his heart was breaking as he said the audience and he knew he was ranting but they were eating it up, “If you was to look up love in the dictionary,” he said, “It won’t say what I’m about to tell you.”

The throng of would be dancers were all ears and Phoenix knew he shouldn’t be using his power like this, “Love is precious and fragile,” he said looking right at Kal, “Which needs special handling.”

Phyre felt a pang as Phoenix continued, “Treasure each other and always listen to your heart.”

Phoenix smiled sadly at the crowd and his fingers began to tickle the ivory. He watched people with their partners and gave himself over to the song that he chose to sing only after just leaving Kal in the restroom alone. He knew that he had hurt Kal, but what Kal had him do was almost unforgivable.

I know there’s something in the wake of your smile
I get a notion from the look in your eyes, yeah
You’ve built a love but that love falls apart
Your little piece of heaven turns to dark

Listen to your heart
When he’s calling for you
Listen to your heart
There’s nothing else you can do
I don’t know where you’re going
And I don’t know why
But listen to your heart
Before, you tell him goodbye.

Phyre could feel his eyes mist a little and knew that he had hurt Phoenix beyond forgiveness. He listened to Phoenix play the piano as the dancers moved all around him.

Sometimes you wonder if this fight is worthwhile
The precious moments are all lost in the tide, yeah
They’re swept away and nothing is what it seems
The feeling of belonging to your dreams

Paige and Piper just sat their leaning against the edge of the table listening to their little brother sing.

Piper frowned, “His voice is so beautiful.”

Paige laughed, “Anyone could be a siren compared to your foghorn.”

Piper punched her, “Hey!”

And there are voices
That want to be heard
So much to mention
But you can’t find the words
The scent of magic
The beauty that’s been
When love was wilder than the wind

Listen to your heart
When he’s calling for you
Listen to your heart
There’s nothing else you can do
I don’t know where you’re going
And I don’t know why
But listen to your heart
Before, you tell him goodbye.

Listen to your heart…mm..mmm

I don’t know where you’re going
And I don’t know why
But listen to your heart
Before, you tell him goodbye.

Phyre felt the tear fall from his eye as he moved to stand up. Was this Phoenix’s way of telling him to get the hell out of his life? Were all these years to be destroyed over a rapist that got what he deserved? He sniffed and moved through the dancers to leave when he noticed that everyone had stopped moving except for the two witches and Phoenix who was walking down the steps and then stopped in shock at what he was seeing.

Piper was the first to speak, “Looks like Grams was right.”

She threw out her hands and Phyre just looked at her as his shirt burst into flames an fell off his naked chest. Phoenix ran over to him, “Don’t you hurt him!”

“He’s a demon,’ Paige told him.

“A damn powerful one at that,” Piper said gazing at that fine chest, “Nice chest.”

Phyre just moved to walk away from them but Phoenix grabbed his arm, “Kal stop!”

“What,” he yelled, “Haven’t you already made it clear you don’t love me anymore?”

He pulled his arm out of his grasp and Piper thought he was going to hurt her little brother so she blasted him again which only made a tiny spark.

Phyre just glared at her, “I would rather die you stupid witch than to harm one beautiful strand of hair on his beautiful head.”

Paige sneered, “You tricked him into trying to have that man kill himself.”

“Who deserved it,” Phyre exploded, “If not that child it would have been another!”

Both Paige and Piper blinked as Phoenix stepped closer, “That song was for us to Kal,” he told him, “More so for me.”

Phyre looked so cute when he was confused, “What do you mean?”

Phoenix wrapped his arms around his neck, “I love you Kal,” he whispered softly, “And I understand why you did what you had to do.”

“What are you doing Phoenix,” Piper asked getting that scary Déjà vu feeling.

Phoenix turned around to face his sisters as Phyre wrapped his arms around his waist pulling him close to his naked chest, “I didn’t try to kill a man Piper,” he said as his eyes began to glow red, “I tired to kill a monster.”

Both sisters stared in shock as the both of them vanished in a loud roar of breath stealing flames. Their heads snapped to the side to stare in horror as the clock above the bar struck midnight. They both looked at each other as everything around them crashed back into motion.
