The small grey room gave nothing away, no signs of where he might be or why. There was absolute silence, no smell to the stale air, no labels on the basic table and chair in the centre of the room. Despite this, Peter knew. He knew because really, there was only one person who could be responsible. Add the fact his powers had mysteriously abandoned him in his time of need and his suspicions were confirmed. He remembered nothing of his initial capture and things after that were a blur. He tried to remember something, but his head already pounded from whatever they’d used to knock him out.
He suspected Parkman was the one to find him. Perhaps any one of the other traitors had helped. The Haitian was nearby, of course. Had to be. And pulling the strings, behind the scenes…could only be one person.
The moment his thoughts shifted to an unwanted memory, the door opened and the very subject of his nostalgia appeared, face deceptively welcoming as he stepped into his brother’s cell.
Peter leaned against the far wall, watching Nathan guardedly. The last time they’d seen each other, they’d fought over Nathan’s changing behaviour. He was out of control and by then it was too late to do anything about it. Peter had gone into hiding, Nathan had descended into what Peter could only describe as evil. The world had gone to hell and his brother was the face of its destruction.
“I’ve been looking for you for a long time.” Nathan spoke suddenly, breaking the silence. He gradually walked closer to his younger brother, his mouth curling into a slight smile as the young man stiffened. “I’ve been worried about you.”
Shifting away from the wall and walking round the room, Peter refused to let Nathan get too close. Once upon a time being close to his brother made his heart beat that little bit too fast, he lost control and craved Nathan’s touch more than anything. Now, it felt wrong. Instead of feeling as if he were losing control, he felt like it was being taken from him. A subtle difference, but one Peter had picked up long before they went their separate ways. The change in Nathan hadn’t been solely political, after all.
“Sorry about the methods I had to use to get you here.” Nathan apologised, no regret in his words whatsoever. “You understand why I had to do it.”
It wasn’t a question, so Peter didn’t bother to answer it. He just shook his head in disapproval and looked down at the floor, his jaw clenched.
“You’ve changed so much,” Nathan stated, seemingly uncomfortable with Peter’s silence.
“You can talk.” Peter retorted, flatly. He looked up at his brother and raised his eyebrows. “Is this all you wanted? ‘Cause I got places to be.”
“I want so much more, Peter. I’ve missed you so much.” Nathan began, familiar tone in his voice that used to send shivers down Peter’s spine.
Maybe it still did, but these shivers were something else entirely. He remained stoically calm, eyes cold and distrustful. He might not have his powers, but he was strong, much more so than a mere politician, he was sure of that. For that reason, he refused to panic. “We’re not close anymore, Nathan.”
“I’m going to change that.” Nathan told him, confidently.
“No,” Peter argued firmly, “you’re not.”
Nathan closed the gap between them, reaching out to touch Peter’s cheek. Before he could, the younger man flinched away and glared at him.
“You drugged and kidnapped me for this?”
“Among other things.” Nathan replied, amused at Peter’s defiance. “You and I never got to finish things the way I wanted to.”
Peter shoved his brother back, anger flashing into his usually lifeless eyes. “Tough shit.” He didn’t even see Nathan’s next move coming. Years of fighting and he couldn’t even react in time to save himself from being caught up in a painful hold, his chest slammed down onto the table with enough force to knock the breath out of him.
“Get off me, Nathan!” Peter demanded breathlessly, seething with anger at being manhandled by someone he’d have died for not so long ago. Whatever love he’d had for his brother was quickly dissipating, and not just because Nathan’s grip on his arm hurt like hell as it was twisted up his back. This had been a long time coming.
Panic quickly followed Peter’s original shock as he realised what Nathan was reaching for. Years of eagerly anticipating the days Nathan would slyly undo his belt and drag it from around his waist made the gesture a familiar one and before Nathan could even get to Peter’s zipper, the younger man began struggling with renewed effort.
“Calm down.” Nathan ordered with the same authority he’d used whenever chastising his brother. So familiar and yet paired with Nathan’s obvious intentions, Peter had never felt so distanced from the memory of the man he’d known.
“Get your fucking hands off me!” Peter yelled at him, fearfully realising that all the strength and skill he’d gained for and from training and fighting in the past five years was not enough. Nathan held him down with far more force than Peter had thought the president capable of. Could he really have underestimated his brother so drastically?
“No, Nathan, don’t…” Peter begged, anger replaced by fear as the reality of the situation hit him. “Nathan!” The brooding, confident man Peter had become melted away in an instant in the face of the one person who could always make him feel like the shy, awkward teenager he once was.
“Shhh! It’s been a while, hasn’t it, Pete? You and me? You have no idea how much I’ve missed this.” Nathan whispered in his ear. Before Peter could even respond, he brutally tore inside his unprepared brother, ripping a scream from the younger man’s lips. “I have all the power in the world but there’s nothing like this, you have no idea!” Nathan exclaimed, undisturbed by the agonised cries of pain Peter was trying to hold back. “Could have taken your powers any time I wanted but I had to keep having you…”
Peter blinked through his tear filled eyes and tried to process the words, their meaning lost in a haze of pain and betrayal that refused to allow him to think straight. Each stab of Nathan’s cock inside him sent new waves of pain through his body, it was too much, he couldn’t take it anymore.
“Not enjoying this, little brother?” Nathan asked spitefully, amused at Peter’s easy defeat.
The nagging at the back of Peter’s brain grew stronger at Nathan’s words; Peter forced himself to concentrate until it finally clicked. “You’re not Nathan.” He stated, weakly, his realisation not quite sinking in. And then it did. “Sylar…”
“I’ve often wondered what it would be like to hear you call out my name during sex. All those times you gave it up so willingly but never screamed out my name as I made you come,” Sylar teased him, driving deep into the weakened body. “Your brother put up quite a fight, you know. When I told him what I wanted to do to you, he almost won. Almost.”
Peter had buried almost every one of his emotions over the years, especially the feelings he’d once had for his brother. But in a single moment, Sylar had reached down inside him and torn them free. The pain that followed burned like acid in his throat. Nathan was dead, all this time it had been Sylar…Nathan hadn’t betrayed him…Nathan had fought to his last breath to stop this from happening. Peter’s scream of violent rage echoed throughout the cold, impersonal room, filling it with the agony he couldn’t bare to keep inside.
The image of Nathan remained, sick smile on his face as he thrust one last time into the young man and found his release.
End.
