Part 1: The Outlander

Fandom: Legend of the Seeker

Rating: Adult

Summary: Rahl did not die at the end of season one this story is set just before season one ends. Another person arrives and the seeker must use her to defeat Darken Rahl. The prophecy says that an outlander would either defeat Rahl or join with him to defeat the seeker.

Rahl looked in his journal and noticed General Nass found someone walking in the Midlands. He wrote back that the person should be brought to the people's palace.

Nass read those words and walked out of the tent. His second in command walked up to the book and noticed that more words appeared on the pages. He ran out after Nass.

Nass entered the tent where they put the woman. He said, "You will be going to the people's palace. I get to take you there. If you scream, I will kill you." He advanced on the woman.

She pulled away scared of what this man wanted her for. Another man ran into the tent she became more afraid. Now there were two of them and her power would be lost.

Nass was mad at his second in command for interrupting him. The young man said, "General, you must not touch her. Lord Rahl wants to know if she is an outlander. If she is, then he wants her unharmed and untouched by all the men in the company." Nass nodded his head and punched his second in command. Nass said, "I will deal with you later for your insolence." Nass turned toward the young woman and said, "You will remain in this tent. He will be your guard." The young guard nodded and Nass walked out of the tent.

The young woman walked over to the young man and touched his cheek. She pulled her hand away and said, "I have healed you." Her hand moved back to her chest. She knew that she used too much energy. The warning signs were there the pain down her arm, the rapid beating of her heart, and the shortness of breath. She knew that if this Lord Rahl wanted her to preform her magic that she will die.

General Nass re-entered the tent and said, "Lord Rahl will be here to take her to the people's palace himself." He chuckled as he walked out again.

The young woman said, "What is this Lord Rahl like?"

The young guard said, "I will get you out of here before he arrives. He wants you to give him your power. I am a double agent. I spy for the resistance." He grabbed her hand and pulled her out the back of the tent.

She panted and said, "I need to rest or I will die." They had been running ever since they left the camp.

The young man said, "We can not afford to rest. It will not take them long to discover that I took you and then Lord Rahl will be on my tail."

Neither person noticed a black cloud following them.

Back at the camp, General Nass walked Lord Rahl into the tent where they kept the young woman. He was stunned to notice that the woman and her guard were both gone. He turned to Lord Rahl and said, "I will hunt them down myself."

Lord Rahl said, "Do not bother with that. I will track them down on my own. Follow the tracer cloud and wait for my order to attack. Now is this woman an outlander or not?"

General Nass said, "Her clothes were different. She healed her guard's cheek just in a matter of moments that I left them in this tent alone."

Lord Rahl smiled and said, "Then I do not need all the boxes of Orden to defeat the seeker. You, General Nass, have found me a true outlander. Go and bring her to me unharmed. Kill who ever is with her."

General Nass said, "Yes, my lord." He walked out and followed the tracer cloud. It finally disappeared. Nass knew that he could not go back to Lord Rahl and say that the outlander found the cloud.

At the resistance camp, many people gathered around this strange looking woman. They noticed that the clothes she wore was different and not of their making. They followed her to the seeker's tent where the confessor would find out who or what she is.

The young woman was led into a tent and two men looked at her. She noticed that the old man smiled as he looked at her clothes. The woman in the tent was looking at her in wonder.

Zedd looked at the young woman and said, "What is your name child?"

The young woman said, "Illyana. Where am I and what is going on?"

The other man said, "Zedd. Is she what I think she is? Is this the outlander that the book told me about?"

Illyana said, "What are you talking about? What is an outlander? I was walking around my school in Japan and then something pulled me away. The next thing I know is that I'm in a military camp with all these soldiers looking at me. This is just too weird those soldiers were wearing armor. Would someone please tell me what is going on?"

Zedd said, "My child there is a book that says that when the time is right the outlander would help or hurt those she loves. An outlander is someone not from the Midlands. Your clothes tell me and Richard that you are not from this world."

Illyana said, "Who is this Lord Rahl? Why is he after me?"

Richard looked at Illyana and said, "I am Richard Cypher and I will protect you from Darken Rahl."

Illyana said, "Who are you to make such a claim? How do I know that you are not working with this person?"

Kahlaen said, "Richard is not like that. He is the seeker and he will protect you."

Illyana said, "Why should I trust you? You all have done nothing to prove that you are the good guys or that I am this person that will help you."

Richard said, "Let me prove to you that I am not like Rahl. Give me your power and I will defeat Darken Rahl."

Illyana said, "I can't. The power is a part of me and I don't know if it will let me. My power is a part of who I am and if I give it up I will die."

Richard looked at Zedd and asked, "Is she telling the truth?"

Zedd said, "I think you said that the ultimate act of love would release the outlander's hidden power and her power would help or hurt her love."

Richard nodded and said, "It did not say that she would loose her life."

Zedd said, "I think that it does say that. What would help and hurt a love?"

Illyana said, "The death of a love. Death is both helpful and hurtful."

Zedd smiled and said, "Exactly. Now I wonder how do we get the power out of her and into our seeker."

Just then the crowd outside of the tent started shouting. Richard left the tent and saw Darken Rahl walking toward the tent. He drew his sword and said, "What do you want here?"

Rahl said, "I am here to talk to the outlander. Now get out of my way seeker."

Richard said, "I will not. You can not have her. She belongs to me."

Illyana walked out of the tent and heard those words. The words made her mad even in Japan no one said that about her. She said, "What right do you have to make that claim? Who are you to make that decision for me?"

Richard looked at her confused and said, "I am the seeker. You need to be protected from him."

Rahl smiled and said, "The prophesy states that the outlander belongs to no one. The outlander would help or hurt the one she loves." He then proceeded to do something that shocked all that was around him. He walked over to Illyana and fell to his knees. He said, "Outlander, I would never destroy the words of the prophesy about you."

Illyana gasped at this man who was bowing at her feet. She turned to Richard and said, "Seeker, if I wanted would you let me go?"

Richard gasped and said, "I can not. He would kill you and steal your power."

Rahl said, "I would rather die than hurt her."

Before they both got too involved with their fight, Illyana shouted, "BE QUIET!!!" She noticed how both stopped and looked at her. She continued as she pointed to Rahl, "You, would you let me go if I wanted?"

Rahl said, "I would never do anything to hurt you. All you would have to do is say the words and you would be free." He lowered his head so no one could see his smile. He might have lost the battle of words with the seeker but not the outlander.

Illyana smiled and walked over to Rahl. She knelt beside him and said, "Does the prophesy say that the one who receives my power would stand or be on his knees? What is your name?"

Rahl looked at her and said, "My name is Darken Rahl. The prophesy stated that you would stand beside the one who receives your power." He noticed that she smiled at him unlike the smile that graced her face before. He then realized that he would do anything for those smiles. He noticed that no one else saw that smile and that could only mean that it was meant for his eyes only.

Illyana said, "Then why are you on your knees before me. I want you to stand not kneel before me." She rose and extended her hand to Rahl. She smiled at him alone as he took her hand.

Richard screamed, “NEVER!!!” He charged at them waving the sword of truth.

Kahlaen yelled, “Richard don't!!”

Rahl never saw Richard coming until Illyana dove in front of him. He watched in horror as the outlander saved his life. He was confused as to why she would do this for him. He felt sure that he failed her test.

Richard witnessed as the sword cut Illyana's chest. He threw the sword away from him.

Zedd summoned the sword to him to keep it out of Rahl's hands. He then noticed that Rahl only had his eyes on the outlander.

Rahl said, “Why did you do that?”

Illyana smiled and said, “You were the one. The only one of these people to pass my test.” She gasped as she felt the blood pooling in her throat. She coughed and weakly said, “If I would have let you die, then what good would my power be. Now you must take the final test alone. I will not be by your side.”

Rahl said, “You will be there with me. I need you by my side.”

Illyana said, “There is nothing you can do to stop my death. I am not immortal. You... will... hold... my.... po... wer.” Her eye closed and her breathing stopped.

A bright light exploded and a young man stood before Rahl and said, “Give her to me.” He groaned as Rahl shook his head. He leaned in and whispered in Rahl's ear, “I can heal her, father. If you do not let me hold her, she will die. Please father.”

Rahl nodded and gasped as he heard the young man address him as father. He handed Illyana over to the young man and scooted away from him. He saw the young man kiss the head and whisper something into her ear. Rahl gasped as he saw the wound close.

Illyana smiled and said, “You should not be here, Wyatt. Why did you come?”

Wyatt smiled and said, “I came to find you and help you. I am glad that I did not find you among the dead. You almost died but I managed to convince him to let you go.” He pointed to Rahl. He turned away. He opened his hand and said, “Return to your master, Sword.”

Zedd was shocked as the sword left his hand only to go to the hand of the young man.

Richard walked over to Wyatt and said, “That is my sword. Give it back to me.”

Wyatt said, “The sword has one true master. The seeker is just a caretaker for the sword of truth. The master is the sword's one true owner.” He chuckled at that and waved his hand over the sword's blade. He said, “Take the Rahl bloodline and be bound to serve it.” He gasped in pain as the blade cut his hand.

Rahl walked over to Wyatt and said, “You should not do this.”

Illyana walked over to Rahl and said, “He must. This is the only way. Now we must say goodbye to him. He needs to return to his own time.” She smiled as Rahl nodded his head. She walked over to Wyatt and said, “I will see you in the future, Wyatt Draken Rahl.” She put her hand on Wyatt's forehead and it started to glow. She said, “A time for everything and everything to its place. Return what was moved through time and space.” She stepped away and repeated the words.

Wyatt disappeared into the same bright light that brought him. He waved to Illyana and Rahl just before he disappeared.

Rahl started to look at Illyana. He noticed that she was moving closer to him and away from the seeker. He growled at the wizard who was making a move toward Illyana. He knew that if Zedd touched her she would be burned by wizards fire.

Zedd started to move toward the outlander with his fist clenched. He did not want her to give birth to the person who corrupted the sword of truth. He stopped as he heard Rahl growl at him.

Illyana noticed that the confessor was moving toward Rahl. She grabbed Rahl and said, “Think of a place that you feel truly safe and protected.”

Rahl thought of his palace. He felt a tug in his stomach and then a blanket was draped over him. He felt someone laying on his chest and he opened his eyes. He saw long black hair framing a face of an angel in his words. He touched the hair and the body groaned. He said, “Are you alright?”

Illyana said, “I feel like my power will never return. Two powerful bursts with no rest depleted my magic. It might be days before I can work any magic again. I will get better as long as I can get some sleep.” She smiled and her eyes closed.

Rahl said, “Then sleep you will. When you wake, we will be married. You created great change in me, and I want to know how you did that.” He kissed Illyana on the head and rose off the bed. He walked out of his bed chamber. His wizard walked up to him and said, “Once you get her power you must kill her. The child I saw must never be born, my lord.” He growled at the wizard and said, “My son will be born and you will not touch her. If you do then I will kill someone you care about namely you.” He smiled with satisfaction that the man understood his position.

Illyana smiled in her sleep. She thought ‘My spell is still in effect. He does not even know that he will keep protecting me because of a spell. I shudder to think what would happen if he ever discovered the truth.’ Illyana sat up and yawned. She rose from the bed and walked to the window. She just started to open the window when she felt a tug in her mind. She knew by instinct that it was Rahl. She said, “I woke and you were not here. I wanted to see the sun rise.”

Rahl smiled and said, “That is alright. You can open the windows. I found something you might like to have. This castle can be very lonely place when you can not leave the castle.” He noticed that when those words left his mouth her eyes clouded over with sadness. He felt the sadness hit his heart and the tears form in his eyes. He said, “I did not mean that you can not leave the castle. I meant that when I am not around there is nothing to do in this castle.” He saw that a saddened smile lit up on her face. He continued, “No one will hurt you or tell you that you are not allowed to leave. That is my promise to you.”

She extended her hand to touch Rahl's face. She felt a heaviness in the arm and she fell to the ground groaning.

Rahl noticed this and ran to her side. He said, “What is wrong? Is there anything I can do to help? I do not want you to hurt.”

Illyana looked at him and smiled. She said, “I used so much of my power. I do not think that the little amount of sleep was enough to replenish even my basic of needs. Sending Wyatt back to the future then bringing us here to your castle I thought that the little rest would help me so that I can function by myself. It appears that I was wrong.”

Rahl was wondering what else she neglected to tell him. He said, “You are going to stay in bed until I am satisfied that you can stand up on your own two feet. That is the only order that I will give you. I want my chosen one to be standing for our wedding.” He heard her chuckle and wondered what that was about.

Illyana said, “My you sure are full of yourself. Saying that I would marry you.” She noticed that he looked hurt from what she said. She continues, “I am only joking. I would not have come with you if I would not be willing to marry you.” She smiled as she heard him chuckle. She then noticed that her heart felt like it was beating out of her chest. She lays down on the bed and noticed that Rahl was at the bedside. She wished that she could take the worry lines that etched his forehead away. She now understood that he would always worry about her.

Rahl noticed that Illyana’s eyes closed once again. He heard her breaths come in pants. He started to get more worried that something else was wrong with his future wife. He tried to awaken her by calling her name. He said, “Illyana. I need for you to wake up. I have food for you. Illyana answer me.” He noticed that she did not even stir.
