        "This is a Spock/Vulcan based Fan Fiction, which means it explores the tensions that he would go through if he was put into the situation that is described in this story. As it is Vulcan Psychology and Philosophy, it will seem repetitive at times, but that is because he is trying to find the logic of a situation he doesn’t personally agree with, NOR completely understand.
        I am reposting this story because I am BETAing the hell out of it. It’s much more readable now, makes more sense and the grammar and spelling is much better. Hopefully it won’t be as offensive to ones sensibilities to read as it was before ;)

Chapter 1

            The hybrid Vulcan sat quietly in his room before a alter of candles and a book, meditating. Trying to keep his mind focused on his studies, and on anything but what his body was trying to convince him was more important and force him to concentrate on. It was nearly seven years to the day, and they were on a patrol far away from Vulcan. He had been confined to quarters after an incident that landed several people in sick bay. It seemed like the best idea to simply stay away from him until his problem was resolved.
            Usually, this particular problem he dealt with by meditating through it, but it seemed that it had been far too long between visits to Vulcan, and his meditating was not calming him down. Instead, it just seemed to grow worse and worse. Sparring sometimes helped but there was no one aboard the ship strong enough to take him on when his fever and condition was so far advanced.
            “Captain to Spock.” A voice said over the com. The troubled Vulcan reached over and picked up his communicator to answer.
            “Spock, here.” He answered waiting to hear what he was being contacted for.
            “Apparently, you have a guest. She’s just arrived, and is waiting in the transporter room.” The tone in the Captain’s voice sounded vaguely annoyed. Perhaps not with his first officer, but with whatever had gone on when the female visitor arrived. “Since you’re confined to quarters I will have her brought to you. Only if you want her sent to you that is.”
            Spock was quiet for a moment, before he responded, “A guest? Captain I’m not expecting any guests.”
            “Well, she seems to have been sent to you from a colony on Vulcan. She was routed here immediately by the Vulcan council when the incident report of what occurred on the bridge yesterday was sent to star fleet, along with McCoy’s medical report.” He explained.
            Spock was silent for a moment, “What was the name of the Colony.” He asked having a strange feeling he already knew.
            “Celass.” Kirk answered after a moment, Spock could only assume he had asked.
            “Yes, of course. Please send her to me immediately.” He said closing the communicator and putting it aside. He wasn’t expecting this, and he certain wasn’t prepared for it. It seemed strange that he hadn’t received a message concerning this. But, at this point, thinking clearly and keeping control of himself was quite difficult enough without adding another question and problem to consider.
            A short while later, the door of his room beeped. “Enter.” He called out waiting to see who would appear. The door slid open and a figure dressed in a long cloak with the hood pulled down over their face stood there in silence. There were two guards with their weapons drawn who had escorted the guest to Mr. Spock’s quarters. There must have been some sort of disagreement about her coming aboard to have the captain assign such security to escort her through the ship.
            He waved the guards away and the figure stepped inside as the door slid closed again and locked. “I wasn’t informed of your arrival. I apologize for not being present when you came aboard.” The figure remained still, her head down and concealed by the hood of her cloak. Spock was still quite agitated in his current condition. His concentration was thin, and to not be able to see this person was not helping the situation. “I was told that you are from the Celass colony. I’ve heard of the new colony being formed some years ago, but I’m afraid I do not know very much of it.”
            A pair of feminine hands came from under the cloak as she reached up and pushed the hood back and it fell to her shoulders. Spock was still as he looked at the young woman. She was human in appearance, her ears only came to a slight point, but not nearly as obvious and defined as Spock’s were. Her eye brows were not as harshly straight as Vulcan’s, and had a slight curve to them. The science officer slowly walked around her, inspecting her appearance. Despite these differences, she was still distinctly Vulcan.
            As he moved around her, her eyes moved downcast and she unclasped the cloak at her neck letting it fall to the ground. She wore a Vulcan gown that was most pleasing to the eye. Spock could feel his breath catch in his chest just looking at her loveliness. She was very fair, her hair was the color of earth wheat, and her eyes were bright and beautiful catching the smallest bit of light in the room and shining like two broken pieces of jewels.
            “Why have you come here.” Spock said in a demanding tone finally standing before her.
            “I am a gift.” She said softly never raising her eyes. “A gift sent in your time of need, purchased in full by your family.”
            “My family?” He said looking at her a bit confused. Why on earth would they send a young lady to him as a gift? A few moments passed before he reached up and moved her hair back from her ears a bit inspecting them. “You are not full blood Vulcan.”
            “No, I am not.” She answered honestly. “I am half human . . . as you are.”
            “Are all those in the Colony the same as you?” He asked.
            “No.” She answered again. “I’ve not known any other like myself.”
            Spock stood there still a bit baffled why she was sent to him. Yet her attire suggested plenty and was not aiding his condition. “Please explain your presence.” He demanded.
            The young woman was silent for a moment as if unable to speak even though she wished to answer him. Wasn’t it plain why she was here already? He could see how uneasy she was and saw how she seemed to turn her eyes down even further. “I’m to stay with you, to see you through your . . . fever. Your Pon Farr. You have not returned to Vulcan nor arranged a marriage for yourself after you granted the divorce.” She said keeping her eyes turned down uncomfortable with speaking about such things. “Then I am to return to Vulcan, to the colony to wait until you have need of me again.”
            Spock starred at her his eyes starting to blur a bit, “Are you to be my wife?” He questioned.
            “No . . . I am to . . .” However before she could explain her presence, Spock’s eyes closed and he started to sway. Instantly she hurried to his side and wrapped her arms around him to help steady him. Turning, she helped take him into the next room, where his bed was, laying him down as he seemed to be fighting to keep control and focus.
            Rather than aid him in his attempt to fight off his fever, the young woman reached up and removed the fastenings of her dress, barring her body. Then she reached up pulling the pins from her hair piece removing it as well letting her hair fall about her face.
            Spock watched her where he lay, his breath deepening seeing how beautiful she truly was. He sat up, seeming to have regained a strength and control that had been lost moments before. Then young woman looked into his eyes waiting patiently. The Science officer reached up as his fingertips traced her neck before his hand grasped the back of her head pulling her into a savage almost violent kiss. Wrapping his other arm around her body he pulled her against him. She didn’t fight him, didn’t resist and returned his ‘affections’ giving herself to him completely.

Two Days
            Spock was sitting in the sick bay starring at a screen, much like he was back to his old self except, there seemed to be something weighing heavy on his mind. Yet, he was silently working even though he was somewhat distracted with questions.
            “You’re looking much better.” Captain Kirk said as he entered into the room and the door closed behind him. “Not quite as jittery, nor as pale.” He moved to the desk and sat down next to Spock. “I take it that your visitor is quite the nurse?”
            “Yes.” Spock answered simply. “She is.”
            “You looked troubled. Is there something wrong?” Kirk asked.
            Spock was still silent for another moment before he answered, deciding perhaps it was best to talk to his friend. He folded his hands together, yet did not look at the Captain . “We’ve not spoken since she arrived at my quarters. I’ve not known how to speak to her.” He said looking back at the screen.
            “I’ve never known you to be tongue tied around anyone, Mr. Spock.” He said seriously.
            “There’s a great deal I still don’t understand about her purpose here, Captain.”
            “I inquired on that matter extensively when she was first brought aboard, but all that was said was that she was here to see you. She and the Vulcan escort that brought her were incredibly insistent on it, but didn’t offer many details.” The Captain admitted. “Why don’t you simply ask her?”
            Spock was quiet a few more moments, thinking over what his Captain had suggested. “Yes . . . yes I suppose that would be the best way to find out.”
            “Well, despite not knowing her purpose aboard the vessel despite other than being here to see you . . . who is she?” Kirk asked. “She’s not left your quarters since she first arrived a few days ago.”
            “A young woman, who is half Vulcan half Human like myself. Although unlike me, she has more human features then Vulcan.” He explained. “She’s actually . . . quite attractive.” He admitted even though the sound of his voice didn’t sound very appreciative of her apparent beauty.
            “And you’re complaining about this? Not having seen her face when she came aboard I can neither agree nor disagree.” The Captain conceded. He paused before looking at Spock, “I thought there weren’t any others like you anywhere in existence.” Kirk said.
            “Until she came aboard that is what I thought as well, Captain. It’s a phenomenon that does not go unnoticed as Vulcan is incredibly strict about aliens or off worlders entering into our society in any capacity. However it seems that there are two of us instead of just one.” Spock said falling silent again.
            Kirk hated seeing his officer like this. It was very unsettling on so many levels. “Spock, just go and speak with her. I’m certain that she will answer you.” Kirk almost ordered as he stood up. “Besides, I’m curious about your guest but I’m not about to meet her until you give the okay.”
            Turning, the Captain walked out of the sickbay leaving Spock alone.

Questions
            The door of Spock’s quarters opened, and he stepped in as it closed behind him. He stood there for a moment, being able to see the young woman kneeling in meditation exactly where he left her hours ago. It seemed she hadn’t moved.
            “Come here please.” He said softly. Instantly, the young girl stood from where she had been kneeling and walked to him, her eyes turned downcast waiting to hear what it was he wanted of her. “You . . . still have not explained why you were sent aboard the enterprise so far away from Vulcan.” He said trying his best not to feel the discomfort of being in her presence that had begun once his fever had subsided. “When asked if you were to be my wife . . . you did not answer my question.”
            She took a breath and began to speak, “No, I am not.” She said honestly. “I am a gift . . . given to you from your family.”
            “Which is something you have already mentioned. But there is more. I wish to hear the explanation of your presence and purpose aboard this ship in full.” He said.
            “I am . . . to serve you. To take on the duty of a wife, but without your name, your titles, or your properly. I am to come when you call, to leave when you say, to do whatever it is you wish.” She said trying her best to explain. “I am to be your companion when you have need of me.”
            Spock starred at her realizing for the first time what she was. She was sent to him as a concubine. Not a wife, but a sort of tool to keep him from dying when his life was endangered by the beast within. “You would put yourself in harm’s way, by coming to one whose blood fever overtakes his mind and judgment, without any of the rights or privileges of a wife?” He said looking at her.
            “It is my purpose.” She said her eyes still turned downward. “Do I not please you?” She asked.
            Spock was speechless; he’d not even imagined in a million years that a young lady would be sent to him for such a reason. It didn’t seem as though it was done in his mind. “On the contrary. You have . . .” He wasn’t sure how to say it exactly, “you have pleased me very much. Far beyond anything that could be put into words.” The room fell silent again as she stood obediently, eyes downcast, waiting to be given instructions. “What is your name?” He asked finding it distasteful that he would only ask now, and not when she first arrived.
            “Yanira.” She answered.
            “Yanira.” He repeated finding it quite lovely and quite fitting, “I must apologize.”
            “You’ve nothing to be sorry for.” She answered.
            “My behavior since you arrived could be described as . . . beastly at best. Manners and self-control were not . . . I was not capable of them at the time of your arrival.” He attempted to explain.
            “I am to serve you sir.” She said repeating what she said before, “It is why I am here. It is why I exist.”
            “I am not sure I understand. Is this the life you have chosen for yourself?” He inquired.
            “My life is not my own. It belongs to you.” She said honestly. “I am yours . . . yet you are not mine. I am simply to serve you.” The young woman didn’t seem frustrated but anyone else that was being asked the same question repeatedly would have been well beyond annoyed by now.
            “What happens when you return to Vulcan? Will you return to the colony?” He asked.
            “If it is your wish.” She answered.
            Spock was having a very difficult time sorting out the logic in the facts that she was giving him. Turning around he locked the door of his room from the inside so that no one would enter. He motioned for the girl to come with him, and they kneeled across from each other on the floor. The girl was silent, and waited patiently to find out what she was to do.
            “I do not understand . . . a great many things. Most of this situation you say we are now in is not traditionally done to my knowledge.” He said honestly. “So let us speak plainly with each other. No one else will hear us we are alone.” She gave a nod in understanding. A silent moment passed by, as though Spock was gathering his thoughts. “What is your purpose here?”
            “To be your consort . . . and companion through the Pon Farr fever. To aid and serve you as needed.” She gave the plainest answer she could.
            “You have been trained for this?” Spock couldn’t help but be amazed by this news.
            “Yes.” Her eyes remained downcast. “I’ve been taught extensively since the beginning of my lessons, how to best serve you . . . and provide aid through this difficult time.” She said.
            Spock studied her for a few moments, “When do you leave?” He asked.
            “When you send me away, and need me no longer. Until you need me again.” She said softly.
            Spock sighed; this whole thing seemed extremely strange and not traditional for his people. It was not a subject that was spoken of among the Vulcan’s. It was considered distasteful on a number of levels. But a marriage was always the result of such needs and physical desires not to mention for the Vulcan race to procreate and continue. “Tell me, how many others have you served in this way?”
            “You are the only one I am ever to serve in such a way.” She said immediately.
            “When you leave here . . . will that change?” He asked. “Will you be sent to another?”
            “No.” She answered. “I am yours and yours alone.”
            He clasped his fingers together and looked at her for several quiet moments. “How old are you Yanira.”
            “I am of child baring age.” She said simply.
            “In human years, how old are you.” He said to clarify the answer he was looking for.
            “16.”
            Spock could hardly believe that she was so young. It wasn’t that she was childlike; she was very developed for her age, very mature. She was absolutely beautiful and incredibly attractive, but her age was something that made him a bit more uncomfortable then before. “Where is your family.”
            “I have no family. I have grown up in the colony. I simply know that my mother was Vulcan, and my father human.” Perhaps that explained the difference of her appearance from his own.
            “What are your duties to me, Yanira. In full.” He requested.
            The girl must have had a bottomless well of patience as it seemed he was asking her the same question yet again. “To serve you when female companionship is needed, to bare your children if desired, to see to your every need in this time. I will never ask you for anything, for there is nothing I need. I was purchased by your family for this purpose, and this purpose only. Your name is yours, your property is yours, I am simply one among your possessions. Your life and career in Star Fleet has made it impossible for you to make arrangements for another marriage. Making such times of need dangerous and could cost you your life without proper care and companionship.” She answered.
            “Sold into slavery?” He said quite shocked that it would exist on his planet.
            “I consider it an honor to serve you.” She said immediately wanting to know that she truly did feel honored. “I wish nothing but to please you.”
            “Your life should be your own. Not to be sold and bought as if you were nothing more than a material possession.” Spock said trying to understand this.
            “You have been in Starfleet for a long time, sir.” She said thinking it an odd thing for a male Vulcan to say. “If my life is my own . . . then I choose to give it to you.” That seemed to strike a chord with Spock. For the first time, he felt less uncomfortable about the entire situation. Spock reached over and gently raised her chin so he could see her eyes, observing the sincerity in them.
            “I would consider it an honor, for you to share my bed.” Spock relented. “This is still very new to me . . . but I will try to adjust, until you return home.”
            “Only what you desire of me. I will not do anything that you do not wish as I do not want to be a burden to you.” She said her eyes turning downcast again. Spock paused looking at her, than he reached out and offered her his hand. Gently she took it, and he helped her to her feet as they stood. He touched her hair and smoothed it back from her face, looking into her eyes. He was saner now. More than he had been since her arrival.
            “Then I desire your company, Yanira.” He said gently. She nodded obediently as he led her into the next room, his bedroom.

Conversations
            Spock was quiet as he watched the young woman eat. She was so graceful with her delicate movements. She was very lovely. He couldn’t understand why anyone would sell her into slavery like this. It couldn’t be described as anything else if she was not meant to be his bride, and simply a consort.
            As he thought, he found himself needing to ask something. Something he had been concerned about for some time. “You said . . . I am your only. That means that I am also your first, does it not?” She nodded a little putting down her fork not wanting to be rude. “No, please. Eat.” He said. She gave a nod and picked up her fork again.
            “Yes.” She said.
            Another few moments passed before he spoke again, “When you first arrived, and we . . .” He stopped not wanting to get into more detail, “Did I hurt you.” He asked. He was hardly in control of himself, unable to think straight, unable to grasp logic. Much less be concerned with the young woman with whom he was ‘consorting’.
            She swallowed the bite she had been chewing and paused for a moment, “No.” she said in a very soft voice putting down her fork. “You were ill . . . you were nearly mad because your blood burned, and boiled in your veins.” Her eyes turned downcast a moment, “The pain was not unexpected.”
            Spock gave a nod, “I understand.” He said. “Our biology is very much like that of humans reproductive system.” She nodded to let him know she was already aware of this fact. “Except that we become much stronger in the Pon Farr fever.” He said looking at her. “So my question remains . . . have I hurt you.”
            She stayed quiet, for several moments, her eyes turned downcast. “I will arrive much sooner next time you have need of me. So that you will not be so deep in the fever. Your wits will still be yours.”
            The fact that she was evading the question more then answered it. He had hurt her, but she was too stubborn to tell him, too ashamed that she had perhaps cried when he could not see because of the pain. “I am sorry.” He said gently.
            “Last night was quite different. You are in control of your wits and emotions now.” She whispered. He was pleased to hear that, he was much more careful then he had been before.
            “I had hoped so. Yet . . . I think it would be best if a physical exam was made to ensure that you are not severely injured.” He said. She nodded obediently, and picked up her fork resuming eating.

Medical Advice
            The doctor came bursting through Spock’s door, hitting the button to close it again as he entered. “What hell are you thinking!” Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock both looked up at the doctor hardly expecting the outburst.
            “Does this have to do with, Yanira?” Spock inquired. He had sent her to the sick bay that morning, and she hadn’t returned yet nor had he heard anything from the doctor until now.
            “Just who the hell else would it be about?” He roared.
            “Bones, for God sake. Would you like to share the reason for your indignation or just continue to rant at the top of your lungs?” Kirk said.
            McCoy took a breath, narrowing his eyes at Spock, “After a full examination of that 16 year old girl who has been . . . entertaining you in your quarters these past days, she shows injuries consistent with that of a rape victim.” He said angrily. “Even though Vulcan’s have a tendency to heal much faster than humans, the signs and evidence is still there.”
            “I can assure you that it is not the case, Doctor. I would prefer it if you did not use such terminology a second time.” Spock said seriously. “The situation she and I are in is very difficult and interference from others would only complicate the matter further.” Mr. Spock looked away, feeling incredibly uncomfortable, finding the whole thing distasteful.
            “Don’t you dare stand there and pull that ‘we are Aliens and you humans don’t understand our ways’ bull. Whatever that girl went through, whatever you put her through must have been incredibly painful. Besides the physical trauma she’s endured there is the emotional and psychological damage such an act can have on a young woman. But she was too proud, and to stubborn to admit it. Definitely a Vulcan, raised by Vulcan’s, considering admitting and complaining of pain of any kind ‘illogical’.” He ranted further.
            Captain Kirk could see the way Spock seemed to already be reprimanding and punishing himself inside and the doctors scolding was most likely not needed. “Will she recover, Doctor.” He asked.
            McCoy sneered a bit, “Eventually. Physically she’s fine now. Who knows how she is in other aspects she won’t answer me beyond simple questions.”
            “It is . . .” Spock stopped before continuing, “It is something between ourselves, that she and myself must deal with.” There was an immense amount of shame in Spock’s voice, not having known the extent of her injuries. She said nothing, nor gave the slightest indication she was so severely hurt.
            Captain Kirk decided to step in quickly to stop the doctors opinion from continuing unfettered, “McCoy, simply see to her health and send her back to Spock’s custody. If he hadn’t been concerned about her health and condition he would not have asked for a complete physical exam for the young lady.” McCoy didn’t answer right away, he seemed to be grinding his teeth having plenty more to say. “Is there something wrong, Doctor?”
            “She can’t leave the sick bay yet, or more she won’t leave it.” He said seriously.
            “Why?” The Captain asked.
            McCoy sighed in further frustration, “She’s in the first days of pregnancy. Something else I came across in the examination. It was the first real emotion that I saw in her, absolute fear at the news.” He looked at Spock, “Now why would she fear the mere knowledge that she was going to have a child?”
            “I do not know.” Spock said still incredibly shocked himself about the news. “There is very little I know about her, about our arrangement as of yet. I understand even less.”
            The doctor was still quite agitated, but decided perhaps it was best to continue with his report regardless. “Luckily, you and she share anatomy and biology. Being half human as she is, giving me some standard to measure by her blood is as green as yours and found to be the same type amazingly enough. To perform the procedure she’s requested would be simple enough I suppose.”
            “What procedure?” Kirk asked.
            “She wants to abort the pregnancy immediately. When I tried to get her to discuss it, perhaps give herself a chance to change her mind, she only made the request a demand and hasn’t said another word.” Bones replied.
            Both men looked at Spock, who seemed to be lost in thought, stunned at the news. All of it was so much to take in. “I think we need to make a trip to sick bay.” The Captain said.

Internal Affairs
            The young woman stood stoically by the wall, starring straight forward and saying nothing. Kirk, McCoy, and Spock all stood nearby having attempted to speak with her when they first arrived but she didn’t even seem to acknowledge their presence. Kirk was the one who chose to make another attempt. “Dr. McCoy can’t perform this sort of procedure without approval of your guardian, who as of this moment is Mr. Spock. You have to give some reason for your request.” He stated.
            Still, she said nothing and didn’t move. “She will not speak on the subject to you Captain.” Spock said finally. “She will not speak to anyone on this matter.” His eyes turned back towards the young woman. “She and I will speak.” The first officer indicating that they should be left alone. The doctor and the Captain looked at each other before agreeing to give them privacy. The doctor dismissed his nurse before they headed out the door and it sealed behind them.
            Spock clasped his hands behind his back, his own stoic Vulcan exterior in place. “Explain.” He said simply.
            “I cannot.” It was the very first sign of disobedience that she had shown in the slightest since she first came aboard. Spock turned and looked at her.
            “If your life is mine, and your duty is to serve me, then the logical action is to answer and give me the explanation I request.” Spock indicated. Yanira was extremely quiet, eerily so. Even though she said nothing, he understood somewhat. She was bottling her emotions at this moment instead of controlling or overcoming them as Vulcan’s were trained to do, not wanting them to show for anything. If she spoke on the matter, it was highly probable that they would claw their way out.
            Yet, it was a matter of importance that couldn’t be left alone, especially since he was so involved. Mr. Spock walked towards her, only to find her instantly turning away. “Is it because you are so young.” He questioned. “Is it fear at the prospect of becoming a mother?” He questioned.
            “Fear is a human emotion.” She said quickly.
            “Something that I am well aware of I assure you. I am also aware that both you and I are half human. Given your biology, your age, and your gender . . .” he began to explain only to find her interrupting him.
            “Why do you ask me such questions.” She said quickly taking a few steps away from him towards the wall.
            “One reason, that is not the least of them by far, . . . it is my child you carry. It is my child you wish destroy, and I would know why.” She didn’t say anything keeping her back towards him. “You said yourself, that your purpose here was to be my companion, to come when I needed you, to leave when I bid you go, and to bare my children if desired. Did you not?”
            She leaned against the wall covering her mouth with her hand. He could see clearly that she was trying to muffle her cries. “Yanira. . . you must answer me.” He said gently trying to let her know that he wasn’t angry.
            Several long moments went by, it almost seemed as though she wanted to speak and was trying to do so but could not. “Do you remember what it was like?” She asked in a soft, almost whisper. “When we were children . . . and all of the others laughed at us, taunted and tormented us because of what we were .   . or aren’t.” Her voice started to shake a little bit as she spoke. “I would not wish that life on another. Not for all the knowledge, or gold, or logic in the world. I would not.”
            Spock was very familiar with the experiences she described and the feelings that came of them. Even now as an adult and well over a decade almost two in Star Fleet he could hear the words and remember the fights he had been in as a boy because he was half human. Perhaps it was even worse for her without parents, without family of any sort. Spock had his mother, who was emotionally supportive when both he and his father could not be. She had not had such fortune.
            “I have thought the same thing, from time to time in my life when the matter of children and family entered into conversation.” He said. “I do understand your fears, Yanira. Perhaps more than anyone else in existence could.” He admitted. “However, as a race . . . to go on, to continue to evolve and exist we must reproduce, and have children of our own. So that they may go on and have children of their own, it’s simply the way of life.”
            “And knowingly, condemn them to a life of misery and loneliness as we have been.” She said still keeping her back towards him. Spock waited for several moments, turning things over in his mind. Then he approached her and started to reach up to lay his hand on her shoulder but stopped, instead returning his hands to clasp behind his back.
            “I was not asked about this arrangement, nor made aware of its existence before the day you were brought aboard the ship. I did not take the time to know you, as would have been proper if we were to engage in such a . . . intimate companionship. I was not capable of rational thought, thinking of the consequences of such activities. Such fears, are not irrational, and are quite logical as you are drawing from personal experience. But . . . having considered the circumstances, I cannot support or condone this arrangement any longer.” He said plainly.
            “I am to return to Vulcan then.” She said in a soft whisper, keeping her eyes down, not looking up at him.
            “Yes.” She gave an obedient nod. “After we have been married, and you have been made my proper wife.”
            The young woman seemed to freeze in place at his words. Yanira turned and looked up at him. “No . . .” She said quickly, “No, sir. It’s not permitted. It’s not . . . I’m not worthy of being a wife.” She realized she was both raising her voice and looking at him directly, and quickly corrected her mistake, turning her eyes downcast once more. “The council would never permit such a travesty.” She said in a soft voice.

Meetings
            “I was wrong in assuming that she had been treated in a better manner then I had in my youth.” Spock said his hands clasped behind his back. “Had I been born female, without parents to raise me . . . It is possible I would have been in a similar situation.”
            “Sold to the white slave trade?!” McCoy roared. “Honestly, there are things about Vulcan’s I don’t understand. The way they claim to be evolved and sophisticated, and yet still insist on arranged marriages, and taking orphans to be used as concubines!”
            “As distasteful as you might find it, there are many logical aspects to the arrangement that was made between Yanira and myself.” Spock said, “Since there are periods in a Vulcan’s life, that they will die without a companion, and there is no wife waiting for them on Vulcan, it’s a logical step to take to insure death not occur. I had heard when the Colony was first established, and knew that it was only for females. I didn’t know why, these things are not spoken of among our kind.” He crossed his arms, “Already the subject has been spoken of far beyond of what it should have.”
            Captain Kirk sat and listened quietly, seeing the way a fire burned in his doctors eyes. He was angry there was no doubt about it. “Is there some kind of psychological help for her back on Vulcan Mr. Spock? That would perhaps help her accept what is happening, or should I sanction Dr. McCoy’s procedure.”
            Spock sighed, “Captain, I formally request she stay with me at least a week longer. Perhaps I can help her. I have no doubt that this might have been an experiment, to test the stableness of half-blooded Vulcan’s such as myself. I have lived longer then, Yanira. I have more experience with living as I am. Maybe that experience will aid her in some way.”
            “I don’t understand,” Kirk said with confusion on his face, “You proposed marriage, but she turned you down saying that the council would not permit it. Why wouldn’t the council permit it? Do they not know how children come about?” Spock seemed to stiffen with the change in topic, it made him extremely uncomfortable. “Obviously, with this arrangement, children were going to result. Why wouldn’t they let you marry if that was your choice?”
            “I do not know sir. But perhaps it would be best, if no report were sent back to Vulcan on the matter. Not until she and I have had a chance to adjust to each other, and perhaps give her more time to accept what I have offered.” Spock suggested.
            “Afraid disciplinary actions would be held against you for your conduct?” McCoy said his arms crossed.
            “On the contrary, I’m concerned that perhaps they might decide to hold disciplinary actions against her.” Spock replied. “I do not fully understand everything that is going on. The answers that Yanira give when I question her are straightforward but also give no detail as to what she has been trained for, by whom, or what purpose. Assuming anything at this point without further information would be a mistake. I have personally tried to understand the situation, to no avail. All of this is quite unusual to me.”
            “Well maybe if sex wasn’t such a forbidden topic on your planet then she wouldn’t be so overcome with shame!” Mr. Spock seemed to stiffen again when the word ‘sex’ was used so plainly and openly. “Which I can only guess, that in your eyes, is a gateway emotion to all the others she’s been plagued with!” McCoy exclaimed.
            “Bones.” Kirk said holding his hand up letting him know to stop. “The main concern now, is to try and sort this out without getting the Vulcan council involved. From her reaction, it’s clear that she was not as mentally stable and mature as they thought for such an assignment. If this arrangement is similar to those they had on earth hundreds of years ago, they may decide that she needs to be replaced. It’s obvious that Mr. Spock doesn’t wish for that at this point.”
            “Well, what in the hell do you want me to do, Jim?” McCoy asked, “She won’t leave sickbay, and she’s been kneeling starring at the wall since she was first informed of the findings, refusing to say a word, move, or make a sound.”
            “If she’s out of the way, I don’t see why it’s a problem? If she’s in the way, simply tell her that and I’m sure she will move.” Captain Kirk said.
            “Yes doctor, she will.” Spock assured him.
            McCoy just looked at Spock in disgust with the whole situation, before turning and heading out going back to sickbay.
            Kirk looked back at his first officer, “Kind of a difficult situation your government and family has managed to thrust you into.” He said.
            “Without question. I would never have agreed to such an arrangement had I been consulted first. ” Spock agreed with a sigh. He shook his head, “She still does whatever I ask her to do taking each request as a command or order. I will take her back to my quarters, and see what can be done about her mental state. Her meditating for the past several hours only means that she has been attempting to remove all the emotions that flooded out of her at the first notion of her new situation.”
            “Sounds good. Do that Mr. Spock.”

Unexpected Turns
            Spock and Yanira kneeled across from each other in his quarters, having been talking for a while. Spock felt like he had hit a brick wall with the young woman. A moment of silence passed before he decided there was another way he hadn’t attempted yet. However when he began reaching towards her, intending to touch her face so he could attempt a mind meld with her, he was surprised to find her own hand snap up and grasp his wrist.
            “My intent is not to harm you, Yanira.” Spock assured her, caught off guard by her sudden reaction.
            “You cannot touch me in such away, with such intentions.” She said starring into his eyes. This was perhaps only the second time she disobeyed him, doing it of her own accord.
            Spock looked back at her, “You would share my bed, but you will not let me touch your face?” He asked in amazement.
            “You do not intend to simply touch my face; your intention is to touch my mind. You cannot.” She said seriously.
            “Yanira , I believe we have gone beyond formalities, and far past physical boundaries.” He replied.
            “You will not touch my mind.” She said seriously pushing his hand away as she released him. He starred at her for a moment, a little irritated and frustrated by this, but doing his best to regain his Vulcan exterior.
            Instead of arguing with her, he just studied her a few moments. “To bed.” He said sending her to sleep. She bowed obediently to him, before standing and going into the next room. There seemed to be only one thing left he could do, and speak to the only person on Vulcan who would talk to him about such things.

Intruders
            Mr. Spock, Captain Kirk, and Dr. McCoy all met together in the sickbay. Spock called the meeting as soon as he got off the com. He explained to Captain Kirk and McCoy the seriousness of the situation, and once again all three men were at a loss.
            “For her to put one over on us is one thing. We’re not Vulcan’s, but didn’t you find something suspicious in her behavior?” Kirk said still amazed.
            “No. Even though I have been examining everything that has happened from the moment she came aboard, even I could not have told you she was not who she said she was. For the simple reason, that she believes, she is who she says she is. Without doubt and without question.” Spock explained.
            “Now wait. I did an examination on her myself. Head to toe. She is definitely half Vulcan and half human. Her features are a bit more human than yours of course, but you have almost the same anatomy.” McCoy broke in quickly.
            “She is half human, she was raised on Vulcan, and her name is indeed, Yanira. But my family did not purchase her contact. As traditional as my family is, my father being an ambassador of Vulcan . . . I should have realized that it was a ridiculous notion that they would have sent her to me. Unfortunately I was not in a condition for rational thought at the time she arrived.” Spock put the documents that arrived with her on the table. “These are binding and legal documents. The girl’s life now belongs to me. But she was not sent by my family, and I know of no reason why anyone would do such a thing as well as sign my family’s name and seal to these documents.”
            “Well, how do we find out? Would she tell you what she knows if you tell her what you know?” Captain Kirk asked.
            “I think that at this point, the only way I can find out what she truly knows . . .” He sighed and shook his head, “Is the only thing that she will absolutely not submit to in any way.”
            “A mind meld?” Kirk asked
            “Yes. But she absolutely refuses to let me touch her mind.” Spock said.
            Just then the computer started to beep, and a message came in. “Sir, we have a situation in hallway 35 section G on deck 2. Security has been dispatched, but the situation is reaching a stalemate.”
            “Isn’t that near your quarters?” McCoy asked Spock. All three men jumped up and headed up to the disturbance.

Standoffs
            Four security officers stood with their phasers pointed directly at Yanira’s head. At her feet lay two red shirts, and one more whose wrist she had twisted up behind his back ready to snap. “Hold your fire!” Captain Kirk shouted.
            Spock and McCoy made their way forward, “Yanira!” Spock said in a loud stern voice. “Release that officer immediately.” He commanded.
            A moment passed, before she let go of the man she had been holding. He instantly stood and stumbled away holding his wrist. She remained by the wall, staying quiet her eyes turning downcast as they did whenever Mr. Spock was near her. Kirk quietly dismissed the crowd that had gathered around and sent the security guards away issuing orders that they were to close off the area until further notice.
            “Forgive me, sir.” Yanira said keeping her eyes downward.
            “What happened?” Spock demanded to know. “What led to these events?” She didn’t answer right away, almost as if she was ashamed to. “Please answer when I ask a question.” He insisted.
            “One of them touched me.” She said simply. “No one is allowed to touch me except you or doctor McCoy with your permission.”
            Captain Kirk clear his throat, and Mr. Spock just starred at her with a look of disapproval, but McCoy instantly walked towards her and started scanning her. “She’s fine. Not even a mark.” He reported when he finished his initial scan before kneeling down by the two unconscious security guards and began to scan them and assess their injuries.
            Spock nodded, and before anyone could say anything else, he reached up and pinched the girl’s neck and she fell limp against him. He hoisted her up into his arms, and started down the hall to return her to his quarters.

Waiting
            McCoy and Kirk sat in his office, waiting to hear what would be found out. Mr. Spock said that he would mind meld with her, but considering the nature of their relationship, and the personal details it would no doubt uncover, he requested that he do it alone. After seeing what the young girl who was not very large or impressive in size compared to a man could do by herself when agitated, the Captain and Doctor agreed with no argument.
            “He always tries to seem so benevolent doesn’t he.” McCoy said.
            “You’ve known him almost as long as I have, Bones. He’s over compensating for his human side.” Kirk admitted. “He does have a heart, even if it does beat with green blood and under his left arm.”
            “And you’ve seen that girl, same as I have. You can see that she’s almost half his age. Didn’t seem to bother him a bit when she first came aboard the ship.” He said. “All this might have been avoided if he was more discriminate about the young ladies who he lets entertain him.”
            “It’s a subject he’s asked us not to discuss, and I intend to respect his wishes. The entire thing seems too distasteful to the Vulcan culture to even think about much less speak of. Yet they do have wives, and married persons who live together never seem to acquire the same illness that Spock has. So it’s a necessary and very real evil they have to deal with.” He crossed his arms and leaned back, “Records indicate that she was, indeed, raised in that Colony. She was purchased, and left Vulcan. But not by anyone Spock is even remotely related to or even knows.”
            Just then, the doors slid open and Mr. Spock stepped in as it closed and locked behind him. Both men stood up to hear the news that he had uncovered. The look on Spock’s face looked as though he had seen a ghost, and if possible, he was even paler than normal. “What is it Spock? What did you find?”
            He paused for a moment, a distant look in his eyes. “Images of her past, memories of things I cannot . . . describe . . . “ He said, but then he cleared his throat and straightened his shirt pushing aside whatever the haunting memories were. “However, I think perhaps I have an idea of why she was sent to me . . . and where she would have gone after she left.”
            “You said she didn’t know who she was?” Kirk said.
            “She is, who she says she is. But when she was taken from the Colony, she was somewhat . . . reconditioned before being brought to me. Certain aspects of her training were changed, such as to believe that the council really would forbid our marrying, and mind melding was completely unreasonable and intolerable. Things she did not learn on Vulcan.”
            “So who did this? Why would they do it?” Kirk asked.
            “There was a memory, that I believe, her emotions managed to block out of her conscious mind. It was locked away as though it was a nightmare, and not reality.” Spock paused as his own eyes cast downward a moment. “She would have been intercepted on route back to Vulcan, and then taken for studies. Both her and the child would have gone extensive testing, and eventually, an autopsy.” He explained.
            McCoy and Kirk looked at each other in Astonishment. “What!?!”
            “Both Yanira and myself, have the unique quality of being the only half human, half Vulcan individuals in existence. To some, less scrupulous individuals . . . it would seem a perfect opportunity for experimentation.”
            “That’s utter horse hockey!” Bones exclaimed, “What is wrong with those people on Vulcan? Don’t they at least check out the persons they sell these girls to!?”
            “I agree. Horse Hockey of the highest order.” Spock said. “But the fact remains, Yanira is innocent in this matter. There is no scenario where she willingly would have volunteered for such self extermination. She was raised, and trained to be a companion . . .” He paused a moment looking down, “She was barred from all other institutions on Vulcan . . . because of her heritage.”
            “Figures. Not even Vulcan’s are above racism.” Bones scoffed.
            “Well, what’s to be done now?” Captain Kirk asked Mr. Spock.
            “It goes without saying that I do not want anything to happen to Yanira or my child, that she carries.” He answered. “Until she can be safety returned home, without fear of any sort of interception by those who orchestrated such an unspeakable outcome. Once she is there, I will send her to stay with my family where she will be safe.”
            “You are still planning to marry her than? Even after everything that’s been uncovered? All the information and the truth about her?” The Captain asked.
            “Regardless of how she came to be here, Captain, or who sent her the very real fact remains that she is to be the mother of my child. The fault of this incident does not lie with her, she has done everything required of her, everything she was meant to do without question or complaint. I do not wish for her to be in danger nor to I wish for her to return to the colony where she was raised.” Spock explained.
            The Captain had a feeling he was skirting around saying exactly what he meant. He liked Yanira, and perhaps had even developed feelings for her, but would not admit to it. “That sounds perfectly reasonable. Perfectly logical Mr. Spock.” Kirk said in agreement.
            “I want to see her every other day, to monitor her condition, and the baby’s.” McCoy demanded. Mr. Spock and Captain Kirk both nodded agreeing it was an acceptable term. “And I suggest that you be more careful with her, Spock. I don’t want to see her in the condition I found her in ever again. Otherwise I will personally see to kicking your green-blooded Vulcan ass!”

Shocks
            Spock entered his quarters when his shift was over, to find the young woman was still where he had left her. Kneeling on the floor in meditation, a place that she had resigned herself to be for some time now. Clasping his hands behind his back he walked behind her, “Have you eaten today, Yanira?” He asked.
            A moment went by and he saw her head bow, indicating her eyes turning downcast. “No.” She said in a soft voice.
            “I believe, Dr. McCoy has indicated given you a specific diet and directions you are to follow until your return to Vulcan. It would be prudent and wise to follow his instructions for both your health and that of the child.” He said.
            She gave a nod and quietly answered, “Yes.” She didn’t say anything else. She still did not speak unless she was spoken to. Yanira desired to be obedient to him, and was grateful when the origin of her coming to him was discovered that he didn’t turn her out, and send her back shamed.
            Spock gave a nod as well not having very much to say, since he didn’t know what needed to be said. “Are you well?” He inquired.
            “Yes.” She said still not turning to look at him or giving more than one word answers. She seemed to be extremely conflicted with inner turmoil. He could see it, and he wasn’t ignorant as to the reason for it. Digging up those memories of the past months that had somehow been forgotten, terrified her and brought out a since of shame and humiliation.
            He walked around her and kneeled beside her, “I apologize for the mind meld that was forced on you.” He said sincerely. “I know you did not want me to touch your mind. Only now, after it has been done, do I understand why.” She was silent, her eyes downcast, and she was very still.
            Spock felt as though she wasn’t going to speak to him, and looked towards the alter preparing to stand. However, the young woman seemed to have gathered her courage, and break the rules of not speaking unless being spoken to. “It is I who must apologize.” She said softly, “I came to serve you . . . I thought, that it was the purpose of my being sent here. You did not want me, the kind of . . . professional I was trained to be. It was not your family who sent me to you. I have . . . tainted the virtue of your name with my presence.” She said a knot in her throat.
            He looked at her for a moment while she spoke, seeing her body shake slightly. “There is no shame to be had in this situation.” He said, “Shame is illogical . . . considering you were made to believe that you were meant to be here by request. And, the simplest of facts, your coming to me when you did, saved my life.” He was being as honest as he could with her, knowing her youth and her biological make up would make it hard for her to accept, even though she had been raised as a Vulcan and abused in her raising.
            “You did not wish to give me your child.” She said her eyes still starring at the floor, it almost seemed as though she was afraid to turn her eyes towards him. “I have stolen from you.” She whispered. “A most precious part of you.”
            “In doctor McCoy's extensive physical evaluation . . . it seems that you were given chemicals. Quite a number of them, that made your body extremely . . . receptive. Fertility pharmaceutical over a period of several weeks, to insure that you were impregnated when you were given to my custody.” He said plainly. She was not ignorant or foolish. She understood what he said, and she was quite intelligent herself. “It is not your fault . . . anymore then it is mine. Granted, we were two somewhat consenting adults. But I find it highly unlikely that you would have become pregnant so quickly had you not been conditioned as you were.”
            Another moment of silence passed before she spoke again, “Who would do this. Who would want such a thing?” She said in a ghost like whisper, still trying to come to terms with what she had learned about herself.
            “I do not know. I could not see faces when I touched your mind.” He replied.
            She paused a moment, raising her eyes slightly. “Would you be able to find their identities . . . if I allowed you to touch my mind again.” She said softly.
            Spock looked at the young woman, “Perhaps. However, I do not know what other things might be discovered and remembered should I perform a mind meld a second time.” He warned Yanira. “There may be other things that you do not wish to remember that are called to memory.”
            “Neither you nor I are beasts or animals to be experimented on. I would not wish such treatment on any other being. If you can find them, you can stop them.” She said honestly.
            He realized that she was willing to risk it, perhaps so that he would find the culprit who put them in such a situation. Feeling that it was what he wanted, and wanting to please him. “If you are certain then I shall try again.” He decided, “But first, sleep. You have not had any rest in several days. You do not sleep, I have not heard your breathing change. Then when you wake, we will try again.”
            Spock stood and offered his hand, helping her to her feet. She was tired, it was obvious when she almost stumbled back to the floor, but he caught her and helped her to bed. Yet after a while it seemed that she was not able to rest like the nights before her mind was to restless. So he called for Doctor McCoy to bring a sedative to help her sleep.

Situations
            Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock and Doctor McCoy sat together again alone in Bones office. “Both Star Fleet and the Vulcan council have been notified of the situation. Apparently, you and Yanira are not the first subjects to be experimented on like this. Several reports of such crude methods, abductions, and complete disappearances have come in all across the galaxy. Whoever they are, they’ve managed to work in secret until now. Your ability to reach into her mind kept her from becoming one of the many who had disappeared.” Captain Kirk said.
            “She has asked me to search her mind, twice now. But I cannot find anything else about her abductors, and I am unwilling to dig any further into her subconscious at this time.” Spock reported.
            “How could they keep their faces hidden so well from her?” McCoy asked.
            “The images were of what she could see when they had her. The amount and types of chemicals that they had given her blurred her vision. Perhaps on purpose or it was a simple side effect of the medication.” Spock answered.
            “Well, keep me informed. In the meantime, we need to get the young lady back to Vulcan. They insist they will be able to help her. With the baby, and of course keeping her protected so no one will try to take her off the planet.” Kirk ordered. Then he stood and headed out as the door slid closed behind him. Spock started to turn to leave as well but Bones caught his arm to stop him.
            “She hasn’t been sleeping, and certainly hasn’t been following my instructions with her diet.” He said.
            “I am aware of the situation, Doctor. I can understand her aversion to sleep or eating, having seen things through her eyes that would drive a lesser being to insanity. However, I will insure her health and make sure she gets a proper amount of food and sleep. With all this new information, she feels as though she is intruding being aboard the Enterprise, and staying with me.” Spock replied.
            “If it would help her feel more secure, then a separate and private room could easily be arranged. With a room of her own, she might be able to relax a little. Not feel so self-conscience.” Bones suggested.
            “I think, at this point, it would be best if she remains with me. She must become comfortable with me, and allowing her to retreat as she is attempting to do will hinder that process.” Mr. Spock responded
            “So, you really are still going through with it then? Marrying her?” Bones asked crossing his arms.
            “I believe, on your planet, it is referred to as doing the right thing. Her age is of little consequence and has become irrelevant. The only way she will be able to break away from the role she was originally intended for, is for her to have a real name, and title. Being made a proper wife will insure her safety and care among my people.” Spock explained.
            “And love doesn’t enter into it at all I suppose. Since it is considered the most illogical and bothersome of emotions.” Bones added.
            “Taking a mate is for the purpose of health and children doctor. Love is not a necessary factor in the process. Affection and familiarity naturally forms between a husband and wife over a time.” He paused for a moment, having a feeling that McCoy was not understanding, and he decided to give him the most obvious and important fact. “Whatever the reason for the original intention of this occurrence, the fact is that my child will not be accepted, should it be born out of wedlock. As we are already looked upon as lesser Vulcan’s for being half human, I would like very much to make things as normal and easy on my child as possible.”
            Bones nodded, “That I can understand. I suppose, she’d understand it to. If you’d just talk to her.”
            “Already I have been made to talk about this subject more then I have ever desired or intended to doctor. The only reason I speak to you now, is because if anything I have learned is of use in finding the criminals who arranged this, I think it would be most prudent to bring it to light.” Spock said with an annoyed tone.
            “Yes well, remember, you’re no longer the only Vulcan aboard who has a human side.” McCoy reminded him.

Dangerous
            McCoy quickly tore through his supplies looking for the strongest sedative he had that could be safely used, before running out of the sickbay to the turbo lift. Captain Kirk was already on their way from the bridge.
            Both men arrived at Spock’s quarters about the same time, to find Spock lying against the wall, a bruise forming on the side of his face where he had been hit. They helped him up shocked to see him on the ground, “What the hell happened?” Kirk said in awe and disbelief.
            “Yanira. I tried to wake her from a nightmare she seemed to be having. When she awoke, she attacked anyone near her without hesitation.” Spock said rubbing his neck as his head had hit the wall.
            “Are you kidding with your Vulcan strength? How the hell did she overpower you!?” Captain Kirk asked.
            “She too, is Vulcan Captain. And considering the life she now carries within her, she will have the will and strength to protect it subconsciously.” He warned. McCoy inspected the first officer’s face deciding that it was just a simple bruise. There had been no structure damage.
            “Where did she go? Do you know?” The doctor asked.
            “When she stops running, she will realize what has happened. She will not want to be found.” He replied.
            “She’s not part of Starfleet. The most we could do was lock her in the brig, but if what you say is true she had no control over her actions. Her mind has been fiddled with enough that temporary insanity is definitely the case.” McCoy said.
            “I do not think she fears retribution or punishment, but she has not only gone against her training, she has assaulted me without intention.” Spock stood to his feet and went to his computer. “I have not been able to mentally stabilize her as yet, but progress has been made.”
            “I think you’re going to have to work a little faster, if she’s trying to break your neck now.” McCoy suggested.
            “Great, as if there isn’t enough excitement on my ship, now I have a 16 year old, super strength, hormone bomb running about unescorted.” Kirk said with an irritated sigh. “We better find her before she hurts anyone else.”

Counseling
            Yanira sat quietly, her hands folded in her lap, her eyes once again downcast. She was captured heading for the shuttle craft bay, returned to a briefing room with two security officers to guard her.
            Spock walked in and the doors slid closed behind him. He walked towards her before standing behind her. “Yanira.” He began, “You must understand that you are safe upon this ship. No harm will come to you, no one will hurt you. It is member of this crew’s oath to keep civilians, and you safe and protected from harm.” He said seriously.
            “Yes, sir.” She responded obediently.
            Spock could barely take this anymore. He wished for her to speak to him as an equal instead of a submissive. She was not his pet, and already arrangements had been made to make her his wife. This had to change, immediately. She was intelligent, and had a mind of her own. The way her independence, and individuality, writhing beneath the surface, was begging to be set free couldn’t be ignored.
            “Look at me, Yanira.” He demanded. When she didn’t respond after several moments, he repeated his order, “Look at me.” His voice a bit more gentle then it had been before.
            Slowly, she turned her eyes up towards him catching his gaze. She really did have beautiful eyes. A unique color, not quite a human color, not quite a Vulcan color but they were captivating, but rarely seen.
            “I do not wish to continue on in this master, servant relationship. I consider you to be equal to my station, and would appreciate it if you would converse with me as such.” He stated.
            “I have no right to speak to you in such a manner.” She said softly, keeping her eyes on his.
            “You have all the right in the world. If not for your own desire, then because I say it is so.” A moment passed before he spoke again, “I have seen your past. I felt what you felt, saw through your eyes what your life has been. My parents did not die, they are even now still quite alive and well. It would seem that you have had no one, no family, and not even a single soul on your side. But that is changing. I am taking you into my family, and you need not worry about ever being alone in the universe again.”
            “Yet the past remains, and the future . . . . does not seem to glow any brighter.” She said in her soft voice.
            “You are afraid.” Spock stated, “I understand why your fear is so strong. More then you know. Your emotions have been erratic and you have had little control over them since we have begun to unlock the secrets in your mind. But trust me when I tell you, there is no need for it. When we return to Vulcan and we have been wed, I trust you will be able to regain control of your thoughts and feelings.”
            “I do not wish for your pity.” She said almost immediately.
            Spock arched a brow, “Pity would be a human emotion, one that I am hardly familiar with. These are the logical courses of action. The steps that are being taken to secure your future.”
            “How can you even consider making me your wife?” She asked. “Knowing who and what I am?”
            “What you are, is a lovely young woman. You are not defined by your past, Yanira. You are your own person, and you are unique.” Spock countered. “You have become confused and anxious because your course and purpose in life had changed. I wish it was not such a quick transition, but time and circumstances are not allowing a slower pace.”
            “My appearance has always made me very offensive to the Vulcan eye. I do not think that is going to change simply because I have married.” She said, “And what will this baby look like? What traits will out, where would the safest place for him be?”
            “If that is so, then they never really looked at you. For you are very attractive . . .” He paused there a moment before looking into her eyes once again, “You are very beautiful.” He rephrased his words.
            “It is as meaningless a word to Vulcan’s as emotion, sir.” She said.
            “Spock.” He corrected.
            “You are half human, as I am. Perhaps it is your human side that sees me through different eyes . . . Spock.” She said softly.
            “You have a new set of behaviors that I expect to see, all the time. Your eyes are never to be downcast again. They are to look into mine when I speak to you, or you speak to me. The same is to apply with any other person whom you might converse with.” He stated. “Also, you are to make an effort in cooperating with Doctor McCoy when he prescribes and recommends behaviors or treatments that might help you. And last . . . you are not my servant, Yanira. You are now my companion. The Celass colony has already been notified of the situation in full and for lack of a better term, you belong to me.”
            “I do not know how to be anything else, other than I am.” She said honestly.
            “You will learn. You learn very quickly, I have already witnessed this. You need not worry.” He reassured her.

Medical Updates
            “Spock . .” Doctor McCoy said as he came through the door, “I needed to check something with you, that I’m not sure was put in the data banks correctly about Vulcan anatomy.”
            “Yes doctor?” He asked.
            “What is the gestation period for a female Vulcan?”
            “11 months, Doctor. Two more months then humans.” Spock replied. McCoy looked somewhat disturbed by that and made a note in the file he was holding. “Is there a problem doctor?”
            “I’m not certain yet. Other than to say that it’s going to take far less than 11 months if this level of rapid development continues.” He said. “At this rate more like 5 and a half.”
            Spock arched his brow, “Fascinating.” Spock walked over and took the chart from McCoy looking over the readings and results “ . . . this cannot be possible.” He pointed out.
            “Fascinating or not, something’s causing the growth of that baby to be much faster than it should be. More than twice as fast as normal. I need to run some more diagnostic tests but there’s no answer every time I call your quarters.” The Doctor admitted.
            “Yanira is not currently there, Doctor McCoy. She has spent the past two days in the computer lab on deck four. I have constructed a program specifically to help her study many things her education on Vulcan seemed to have neglected. She has taken to it quite well, and has not wanted to stop except to eat and perhaps rest.” Spock explained. “I am grateful that giving her a distraction has seemed to calm her nerves. Her emotional level was getting worse and she had almost no control over them at all.”
            “Well, do me a favor and use your influence on this girl to tell her to get her Vulcan fanny down here. Her health is the main concern; she can explore her horizons later when I don’t need her here.” McCoy said in an irritated tone.
            “I shall do my best doctor.” Spock said before turning and leaving the Sick Bay.
