Loving you is not just luck or illusion
It's in the make-up of our DNA
It's not by chance we make the perfect solution
Don't fight it baby, you know that it's just destiny's way
Baby lovin' you
Comes easily to me
It's what I'm living for
It's all in the chemistry
Baby lovin' you
Is how it's meant to be
It's something that is oh so natural to me - Natural by S Club 7
There is a knock on the door, not a gentle knock either. A loud, drawn on knock. Dean groans as he untangles himself from the girl asleep beside him to look at the alarm clock. 9 AM. The knock again. Dean curses as he gets up and goes to the door not caring he is in boxers. He yanks the front door open.
"What the hell do you want?"
The guy from the lumber yard is standing there and looks Dean up and down, almost devouring him with his eyes.
"I am here with the lumber delievery you requested. Need to know where to put it and a signature."
"Just put it over there", Dean points to the corner of the house by the porch the lumber is for before he grabs the clip board from the guy and signs it. "Anything else?"
"Yea. Are you single?"
"I don't swing that way pal. Leave the lumber and move along.", Dean says and slams the door practically in the guys face.
In the bedroom Mavi jumps with a start and winces as she feels the tug of the stitches on the skin. A small dot of blood starts on the bandage. "Aw shit.", she says to herself as she grabs the blanket and wraps it around her shoulders to hide it before walking out to see what all the noise is.
"What the hell is going on Dean? Whats all the noise and with slamming the door. It woke me up."
"Sorry baby. The hardware store is dropping off the lumber and the guy who is delievering it asked me if I was single."
Mavi doubles over in laughter.
"Yea, yea, so funny. Knock it off."
She stands up and wipes tears from her eyes from how hard she laughed.
"I am sorry. Thats just great. Too bad I wasn't awake to record it.", she grins and winces.
"How are your bandages? Did they need to be changed."
"U..uhm.. N..no.", she stutters and clears her throat, "No. They are fine for now."
Dean raises his eyebrow at her stuttering, "Then why did you get all nervous and stutter when I asked, hm?"
"I forgot about it."
"Sit down. I am changing them now since we are both awake."
"Really Dean. Its fine."
"Sit. Down. Now.", he narrows his eyes.
She plops her butt down on the love seat quickly.
"Good girl.", he goes to get the first aid kit in the kitchen where he left it last night.
She sticks her tongue out at his back before she pulls the blanket to the side enough to see the bandage and she groans when she sees more blood on the bandage.
"He is going to kick my ever loving ass even though I didn't do it on purpose...", she mutters to herself. She clamps her mouth shut as he comes back into the room and takes a seat on the coffee table.
"Move the blanket Mavi."
"But they are fine", she says with a whine.
"If you whine like a child, I will treat you like a child."
She gulps and moves the blanket off her shoulders.
"What the...? Really Mavi?", he pulls the tape off and sees one of the stitches, the skin around it tore a little bit. "Did you get up last night and do something you weren't suppose to do?", his eyes narrow.
"No. I jumped up when I heard the door slam thinking something was wrong. I felt it tore but thought it was okay..."
Dean sighs, "Then it was my fault. I am sorry."
He cleans up the stitches and reapplies the salve before applying a fresh gauze pad.
"Now be careful dammit."
She nods.
"If the lumber is here now... we need to get paint and start painting."
"Meaning you will pick out the colors, Sam and I will go get it and we will start painting."
"I can paint too!", she pouts, "I just can't do a lot with my right arm. So I will paint with my left until it gets tired and then I will take a break."
"I will be watching to be sure you do. Where did you put those color cards?"
"In the kitchen junk drawer."
Dean goes into the kitchen to get them as Sam comes downstairs rubbing his eyes.
"Good morning sleepyhead.", she tells him.
"Morning. What was with all the noise?"
"Oh the lumber for the porch is here and the guy dropping it off asked Dean if he was single."
Sam laughs loudly.
"Its not funny you dick!", Dean comes out of the kitchen.
Mavi snickers.
"Don't you start again either.", Dean snaps at her while he hands her the booklet of color cards.
She takes the booklet. "Thank you Dean. I love you."
"I love you too."
Dean grabs Sam and drags him into the kitchen as she flips through the booklet.
"What the hell Dean?", Sam asks once they are in the kitchen.
"She's picking the colors out, then we are going to pick up the paint. We need to get a tarp to cover the wood so if it rains it doesn't damage it. She tore a stitch a little. We need to keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn't use her right arm and when she gets tired, she rests."
"Ok Dean. I will go get dressed then."
Sam leaves the kitchen and goes back upstairs to get dressed, Dean follows.
"Bring the clothes down so I can start laundry while you boys are gone into town.", she yells to them.
When they come back downstairs she has a handful of colors with a black 'X' on them.
"Why so many colors? Are we painting the house rainbow now?", Dean asks with a laugh.
"No. This teal color is for the house. This dark blue is for the trim around the windows and doors outside. This pastel purple is for the master bedroom. This hunter green is for the kitchen. The darker purple is for the bathroom so its not so bright when I turn on the light. And this mocha color is for the living room. We will focus on one floor at a time. The laundry room can just be touched up with the white paint we already have in the garage. Speaking of garage, Sam... would you like my dads truck? If not, I am going to sell it.. but I rather it go to someone who I know will take care of it."
"Are you sure Mavi?"
She nods.
"I would be honored to have it. Thank you.", he hugs her gently.
"Now we all have our own vehicles", she laughs softly as she hugs him back, "The keys are in the kitchen."
Sam nods.
She hands Dean the cards with the colors she picked. "I suggest taking the truck. We are going to need probably 10 cans if not more to do the house alone. Two cans for the trim outside. Pick up some stain for the porch. A few galloons. My credit card is in my messenger bag."
"We got it Mavi.", Sam says with a smile.
"We do share the house so we minds well share the financial burden on fixing it up as well", Dean adds.
"If you are sure...."
"We are.", the boys say together.
"Well, you better get going then. Stop by DD and pick up some donuts and get me a large sweet ice tea please?"
"Sure thing.", Sam says before the boys walks out of the house leaving Mavi alone.
Once she hears the truck start up with no issues and leave the garage and head out of the yard, she gets up from the couch dropping the throw blanket on it. She goes to the laundry room and shakes her head at the three loads of laundry between the three of them they have collected over the past two weeks. They really needed to learn to do laundry more. She stuffs a bunch of clothes into the washer, puts in the soap and turns it on. She then walks out to the kitchen and digs around in the freezer for something to make for dinner, she pulls out frozen family size of chicken breasts and sets it in the sink.
"Guess I should go get some more boxes from the garage and finish packing up stuff in my parents room...", she says to herself as she walks to the front door and outside barefoot.
She goes into the garage, grabs about five boxes and goes back inside to the master bedroom where she busies herself packing up whats left of her parents life and only keeping the important things, like photos and her moms jewelry. She also keeps her dads laptop since she doesn't have one and it saves her from having to buy one. She goes into the bathroom once the room is done and starts to clean out all the toiletry items and make up, throwing them into a trash bag and tying it up. Shes taking the trash bag outside to throw in the bin when the pick up truck containing the boys pulls back into the yard. Had she really been cleaning out what was left of her parents life that long?
"That was a quick trip", she tells them when they get out of the truck.
"We've been gone for three hours...", Dean says as he looks at her worriedly.
"Oh wow. I was getting rid of the rest of the stuff in the master bedroom. Clothes are about done so I can wash my parents bedding and it can get donated as well..."
"We got all the paint. We will put it in the garage. We can start painting tomorrow.", Sam says as he starts to unload the many galloons of paint four at a time and carry them to the garage. Dean follows suit with Mavi watching. Once the paint is all in the garage, the boys pulls the tarp out and throw it over the wood using a few bricks they bought as well to keep it down.
"At least now I know the wood will be okay."
"We got it all planned out.", Dean says as he walks up to her and kisses her forehead.
"I will finish the laundry Mavi. Just relax.", Sam tells her as they walk into the house.
Mavi plops down on the love seat she has basically claimed as her own and turns on the TV, then the xbox and gets on Netflix. She scrolls through the stuff thats on it and finally settles on Bates Motel.
"Really?", Dean asks as he sits down next to her after putting the donuts on the coffee table and handing her the large sweet ice tea with extra sugar.
"Mhm.", she says and takes a sip of the tea before pulling a sugary glazed donut from the box and chows down on it.
Sam comes in and joins them after he switches loads of laundry.
They watch Bates Motel until Sam and Dean's stomach seem to growl in unison.
"Since it seems you two are hungry... I decided I would make dinner tonight and I apologize if I poision you."
"I doubt you will poision us babe."
"If you need some help or advice, I will try.", Sam says smiling at her.
She tosses the controller to Sam before she gets up and goes into the kitchen and starts to make chicken alfredo. She digs in the cupboard and pulls out a sugar cookie mix. She makes garlic butter to place on toast she tosses in the oven before mixing the cookie mix together and adding cocoa powder and a little extra sugar to make them chocolate sugar cookies. It takes her about an hour to cook dinner, she doesn't need Sam. She sets the table, puts a beer down for Sam and Dean along with a glass of ice water, she pulls the white wine her mother loved from the fridge and poured herself a glass as wine was the only thing her parents would let her drink when they made fancy dinners and this was fancy to her. She takes the bread from the oven, throwing it on a platter and sets it on the table along with the the pot of alfredo before taking the cookies from the oven and setting them on the island to cool.
"Dinner is done guys!", she calls out to them and sits down in her seat, picks up the full glass of wine and takes a deep drink before Dean walks into the dinning area of the kitchen. She sets the glass back down.
"It smells good Mavi.", Sam says.
"Chicken alfredo and garlic bread. Beers are already on the table for you two. So dig in."
Dean sits down beside her and Sam takes the other chair. Dean dishes Mavi's out for her and then does his own before passing it to Sam. They eat in silence, until Mavi picks the wine glass up again and Dean seems to notice it then.
"Is that wine?", he asks as she is taking a drink.
She nods.
"You know you aren't old enough to drink yet."
"But mom and Dad would let me have one glass of wine with fancy dinners and this is kind of fancy. This is the first decent home cooked meal we've had since my parents were killed. Can't we just enjoy it and not bicker and focus on the fact I am have a glass of wine just two months shy of my legal drinking birthday, please?"
"Dean, just take a chill pill. She deserve its, especially after cooking us a really great dinner while still recovering from her shoulder being mauled.", Sam comes to Mavi's defense.
Dean rolls his eyes. "Fine. Only this one and I will even be nice and let you have another glass."
"Thank you!", she leans over and pecks his cheek.
"Yea, yea, yea...", he mummbles as he finishes dinner.
"Since Mavi cooked, we should do the dishes. What do you say Dean?"
Dean responds by taking the dishes to the sink, no left overs to be put away. Mavi pours herself another glass of wine and goes into the living room with a few cookies.
"Desserts there.", she waves at the island as she walked out of the kitchen. She curls up on the love seat, sips the wine, and eats the cookies. Dean sets a glass of water in front of her and her pain pills.
"Thank you Dean-pie.", she says with a giggle. Her cheeks are flushed pink from the alcohol and her tispyness.
"Dean-pie....?", Dean raises his eyebrow.
"SammyWammy!", she exclaims as Sam walks into the living room.
"I think shes drunk.", Sam says with a laugh.
"I am not drunk... okay.. maybe just a wittle.", she pinches her fingers together to show "a wittle" to her before she giggles again.
"So we will just hold off on the medicine until you sober up some...", Dean says as he puts the pill bottle into his jean pocket.
"What if I dun wanna sober up? What if I like being freeeeeeeeeeeee...!!", she squeals.
"Oh my word...", Sam says, "Sorry bro. She is all yours."
With that, Sam runs away upstairs.
"Thanks you ass!", he yells after Sam.
"Sammy Wammy isn't an ass Dean-pie!", she swats at his leg pathetically, "Be nice to your brother!"
Dean rolls his eyes and sits down beside her as he crosses his arms over his chest and stares at the wall in annoyance.
"Aww Dean-pie looks all pissy. Like a kitty. Hiss hiss hissy.", she giggles as she stands up wobbly before she sits on his lap facing him. She wraps her arms around his neck.
"Dean-pie don't be pissy. Be happpppy. H-a-p-p-y.", she says as she pokes him in the nose making him swat her hand away and growl.
"No growl. Hissy hissy pissy. Beeeee happppppy!!!", she demands before she wraps her arms back around his neck and snuggles into him. He sighs and unfolds his arms to wrap them around her, pinning her tightly against his muscular chest. She sighs in content.
"Your muscles always feel good against my body...", she whispers against his neck, her breathe tickling enough to cause a shiver to run through his body.
"Oops. I don't mean to make you cold.", she presses herself into him more as she starts to trail kisses along his neck.
"What are you doing Mavi?"
"Shhhh Dean-pie.", she says between kisses she trails up his along his jaw, to his chin before she finally stops at his lips. Her arms adjust around his neck for her to run her fingers through his hair before she kisses him on the lips, not like before. This time the kiss was full of lust and passion. Dean returns the kiss, deepening it as their tongues battle each other. When they break the kiss, they are both left gasping for breath.
"Dean.... I want you...", she whispers between deep breaths.
Dean responds by returning the affection of kissing up her neck and nibbling on her ear lobe. He grabs the hem of her tanktop to remove it and then stops himself.
"No Mavi. You are drunk. We are family. We can't do that."
"We aren't really family Dean. And I am in love with you. Drunk or not, I can no longer deny it or hide it. Why do you think its you I always want around me? You I always call for when the night terrors sneak up on me? You the one I worry about the most? I fucking love you Dean Winchester. As more then a brother, I have for years. I've been too chicken to tell you, I guess the wine was just the push I needed. You must feel something to or you wouldn't have kissed me back!"
"Oh Mavi... if only things were that easy...", Dean whispers.
"Why can't they be that easy?!", she demands then changes her mind. "You know what. Never mind. Forget what happened, forget I said anything.", she pushes her up from his lap and runs to the master bedroom, slamming and locking the door to the room and to her heart to keep it from breaking.
