Sam put the pedal to the metal on getting the Impala back home, he only stopped and pulled over when Bobby had call. Even hearing they had got to her and she was safe, he still wouldn't be able to calm down until he saw for himself. At this point he was sure Dean forgot he left his second baby in his hands, but he should know he would fly like a speed demon.
"Sam! Slow down!", Cas tells him for the 100th time as he has a white knuckled grip on the dash board.
"Not until I am almost home."
"Bobby said she is safe now! Slow down before you kill yourself and I don't want my vessel damaged either."
Sam slows down just a little bit but its enough to get Cas to stop complaining.
"I don't see why you stuck with me. You could angel poof yourself there."
"Because I trust Bobby and Dean asked me to stay with you during the ride back to your home."
"I trust Bobby too!"
They sit in silence for a long time to the point it gets uncomfortable and Cas finally breaks the silence.
"Why did Mavi stop going on hunts?"
"Hmm.. I didn't really ever ask. I figured she was tired of it, but she knows Dean and I can never fully give it up. Each time we've tried, we get dragged right back into it. It finds a way to bring us 'home' so to speak when it comes to saving people.."
"You and Dean should ask her why she stopped going. Unless Dean already knows."
Sam shakes his head to let Cas know that Dean doesn't even know.
"At this rate though... Dean will be dragging her along rather she wants to go or not. Or we will take turns hunting, but I don't like that because no one will have our backs if we hunt solo. We work better as a team."
"I don't think she would like that either."
Back to silence for the last few hundred miles between Sam and home.
Dean remained on the couch holding her while she slept. He was afraid if he moved she would wake up, that and she was adorable when she was asleep. He nuzzles his check against hers gently to not wake her as he pulls her closer to him. Dean was a heater so she didn't really need a blanket until winter time when she was cuddled up with him. He kept her toasty warm in his arms. Sniffing the air, he could smell the soup and knew it needed to be turned down on low or even warm as to not burn. How to get untangled from her without waking her up.. now that was the current challange he faced. Slowly unwrapped one arm from around her, he crawls over her without bumping her before removing his arm from under her. She groans and rolls over to the his spot that is now empty, wrapping her arms around herself as she snuggles into the back of the sofa. With a smile on his face, he draps the throw blanket over her and walks into the kitchen. The crock pot wasn't in his usual spot, causing him to have to scan the kitchen counter tops. When he found it he turned it down on warm seeing it was at a boil. Digging through the drawers, he pulls out a big wooden spoon and stirrs it. It smells really good and his mouth waters acompanied by a growl of his stomach.
'It won't hurt to have a little..', he puts a small ladle full into a bowl, blows on it gently before taking a bite. He goes back to the living room with the bowl and sits on the chair that Sam has claimed as his own. In the middle of eating the little bowl, he hears a car door outside and then another. Setting the bowl down he goes to grab the gun that is in his jacket by the front door. He aims it at the door right as Sam comes into the house.
Sam stops when he sees the gun on him and Cas who was hot on his heels.
"What the hell Dean??"
"Sorry. I heard the car doors and I wasn't sure who it was.", he grins sheepishly.
"How is she?"
Dean inclines his head in the direction of the couch where she is still sleeping peacefully as he goes back to the chair and finishes the soup.
"She's been asleep most of the day and evening. The doctor had called in a few prescriptions and lets just say they knock her on her ass."
"Prescriptions? Doctor?", Sam asks worriedly.
"Bobby to her to the ER for a rape kit."
"Oh.. so the authorities are handling it. Good."
Dean nods.
"Thanks for staying with him Cas."
"Anytime Dean.", and Cas disappears with a ruffle of his trademark trench coat.
"Mavi had put soup in the crock pot hours ago, before she passed out. Its done. I bet you are starving."
"Yea. Should we wake her up to eat?"
"I am going. See if she wants to take more of the prescriptions.. but I think she will only want the antibotic at this rate."
Sam goes into the kitchen to get two bowls of soup as Dean wakes Mavi up.
Dean shakes her softly, "Come on baby, soups done, you need to get up and eat."
Groaning, she sits up and rubs her eyes.
"I am still tired..."
"You've not been up long enough to fully tell.", Dean chuckles, "How about just taking an antibotic after you eat?"
She nods in agreement as Sam walks into the room and sets the bowl of soup down on the coffee table in front of her with a glass of water. Dean moves himself to sit next to her so Sam can have the chair.
"When did you get here Sammy?", she rubs her eyes some more and yawns.
"Just a few minutes ago honey.", he smiles at her, "Glad to see you are okay and safe."
"Did you like the decorations?"
"The what?"
"For Halloween silly! I did the front yard and Dean finished the inside earlier while I was showering."
"Wow. I didn't even notice. I will take a look after I eat. Promise.", a smile is sent in her direction as she pouts.
Dean snickers, "Eat the soup while its hot baby."
Without arguement she picks the soup up and slowly eats it as she snuggles into Dean's side.
They eat in silence, the only noise coming from the TV. Sam causually glancing at the two on the sofa.
Sam sets the bowl down on the coffee table and with a sigh, finally breaks the as he clears his throat.
"So.. have we figured out what we are going as far as security comes when we are gone?"
"Dean suggested I was probably going to have to start going with you guys again. I know you can't give up hunting and I don't expect you to do so... soooo.. I will settle and sacrafice, if we can try something first."
Dean raises his eyebrow at her.
"What is that?", Sam asks.
"We get a dog first."
"Oh no, we would have to get a puppy and train it, so you still couldn't be protected for another two years. You would be stuck with a puppy, house breaking and training and..."
"Not exactly Dean.", she interrupts his shooting down of the idea, "They do have retired police dogs.. they are already trained for protection as well as other things.. we could look into those."
"And to be sure the dog is the right fit and knows what he is to do,we could always cast that spell like we did last time to get into an animals head.", Sam pointed out.
With a heavy sigh Dean responds, "I don't like this.. but I am willing to try it your way but I would still like you to come on hunts sometimes... especially the ones that keep us gone for a week or more."
"Deal.", she holds her pinky up to him, Dean rolls his eyes but wraps his pinky around hers and shakes.
