still don’t own Stargate SG-1!
A/N: Sorry it’s so late, but my laptop crashed on
me. I had to get me a new computer, unfortunately
it’s a PC and not exactly portable. Aren’t
you glad I have a removable hard-drive to store files on? Otherwise, you wouldn’t be reading this right
now, I’d be re-writing the chapter.
Chapter five
“Alright,” she called
up. “I’m open to any ideas.”
“I’m coming down.” Jack announced to her.
A tremor passed through
the earth.
Nadine’s grip on the rope
slipped a bit. Then the ledge began to
shift.
“Uh-oh…” She murmured.
Jack had begun descending
the cliff face.
“Let go of the generator
and grab hold of the cliff.” He told
her.
“No. We need it as well as the rope.”
The ledge shifted more.
“Listen to me, the
generators lost no matter what. There’s
nothing you can do to save it, so save yourself.”
Nadine was beginning to
tire, either the ledge would give out or her arms would.
Jack continued talking to
her as he descended. “You tried your
best; it’s not your fault we can’t save it.
No ones going to blame you.”
The ledge was nearly
gone.
“Let go of the
rope!” Jack ordered her. “Let it go!”
From above, Daniel had a
feeling Jack wasn’t talking about the rope anymore.
“It isn’t your
fault! You tried!” Then, the ledge broke free.
The generator was first
to fall into the lava floplasplashing the molten rock.
Nadine, out of luck,
managed to grab hold of the rock face before following the generator.
“Hang on; I’m coming to
get you.” Jack told her.
Nadine shook her
head. “It’s alright, I can climb up.”

It took her awhile, but
eventually, both she and the Colonel were once again on flat ground.
“Where are you
hurt?” He immediately asked.
“I’m not.”
“Oh for
cryin’ out loud. I saw the way you landed back
there.”
“I’ll be fine, we still need to figure out how to get out of here.”
“She’s right, sir. We can’t breathe this sulfur much
longer.” Carter interjected.
“Alright, if we combine
our strength, could we lift it?” Jack
asked.
“No,
sir. Even if we could, we still have no way to
dial out.”
“Now’s
the time for one of your brilliant plans, Carter.”
“I’m sorry,
sir, but I just don’t see how we’re going to get out of this one.”
“Well, I guess at least
it’ll be quick and painless.” Daniel
said.
“Isn’t that comforting.” Retorted Jack.
“O’Neill, I too see no
solution to our problem. But, the
poisonous fumes will not kill me. My
symbiote sustains me.” Teal’c informed
the Colonel.
~*~
“Carter, try dialing out
again.” A groggy
sounding Jack said.
“Yes,
sir.” Carter staggered to her feet and glanced
around for the DHD. “Sir, where’d we put
it?”
“Do neither of you
remember? The DHD had been
destroyed.” Teal’c reminded them.
“No, I don’t
remember.” Jack murmured.
SG-1, excluding Teal’c,
was fully suffering the affects of the Hydrogen Sulfide.
None of them remembered
much after that, except Teal’c that is.
